If you like the old farming days. , this place is a must see. Most likely not open in the winter, altho check the website for the schedule of happenings. Pay attention to the detailed garden. ( which plant is what ) In my opinion this is very interesting.
Everything I saw online said the site was open to the public year-round. I parked at the information booth and there were "no trespassing" signs all around and the booth had a "closed" sign on it. No other information was provided. Very disappointed.
I love this museum and property. If you love authentic REAL historical places like I do you will love it. I really like how the family property and things are from the place and not perfect. See how people really lived in the North Country. Plenty for men and women to enjoy. For the ladies, antique needle work abounds and for the guys (especially Civil war buffs) there is farm and Civil war historical items. The Barn itself is a special attraction for Barn and architectural fans. There are mown walking paths throw the woods and in blueberry session bring something to put blueberries in. I was there July 4th weekend and they had lots of re-enactors doing demonstrations.
The Poore Farm is the real deal: enter a time warp and emerge 100+ years ago, to a world without electricity, with few modern items, where hard work and grit were required to make it through each day. It is all here, in a charming setting. There are also hiking trails. Be sure to speak with the docents, who are full of information about life on a subsistence farm. Kids will like it. Off the beaten path and worth a visit.
