This isn't a huge beach, but it was just fine for our kids. We were there on a weekday and we were the only ones there. Water area is roped off which set good guidelines for my boys. There was a good bit of sea gull poop - but it didn't bother the kids! There is a playground as well - so if people get tired of water play there are other options.
