Ice houses are always ready to go. The staff makes me feel like I am there only guest. They have all the ice fishing gear you will ever need. Restaurant & bar are great. Plus they will even cook the fish you catch. By far the best kept secret on Lake Mille Lacs. Love this place !!!

I went on a launch out of Hunter Winfields and didn't catch anything. Second day we went here and the whole boat caught fish and got to keep them.

All you need to bring with you is a fishing license and a cooler with drinks and snacks. They provide all the fishing gear, and they know the lake. We fished mainly in the bay within sight of the Twin Pines Lodge

Twin Pines is located on the very large Lake Mile Lacs about 2 hours from the Twin Cities. We went out for the Monday morning (8am-12pm) launch expecting a crowd as they can accommodate up to 35 people on their charters. But, the three of us, our captain, and his assistant were it. Fortunately for me! This was my first time "real" fishing and well, lets just say I have a tendency towards carsickness... We left promptly at 8am and caught a wall-eye almost immediately. I caught mine about 10am and we had one more before 11am. I believe they were all in the 17-28 inch range which are required to be released, but we had fun. We also weren't fishing at the best time of day or year, so we were pleased with our catch.Twin Pines runs up to three launches a day. They do have a late launch (in the summer it goes from 8pm-12am), but I would have been asleep through half of that, so morning was best for us. This isn't a fancy charter operation - no drinks served or food provided, so bring your own. But the price is economical and the boat comfortable. For newbies like me, they strung the bait, helped me haul in my fish, and showed me how to hold it properly to pose for a photo. And, once it became clear that I am also prone to seasickness, they had no problems taking us in a few minutes early.Plus, you can get a pretty decent (and inexpensive) breakfast all day at their restaurant. So, when you are starving after an early breakfast or emptying your stomach of your breakfast, you can eat!
