This 'zoo' gets worse each time I go, I have finally decided I will stay away for good this time! The prices are too high for what they have to offer. The cages are overgrown and trees/bushes have grown to block some of the lookouts. Some of the animals do not have enough shade or fresh water, and I was here on a very hot summer day! Every time I have went there are different wolves too, they always look sickly and tired, don't know what keeps happening to them. I really feel if they don't turn it around and treat the animals better and actually keep up on upkeep they should be closed down...
We stumbled across this jewel on a weekend getaway, originally. We visited it again last weekend for the second time. Even though my kids are teens and young adults, we all enjoyed the zoo. Our favorite animals are the bears, tiger, cougar, wolves, and the rabbits. The admission charge was quite reasonable.
Have a nice variety of animals for such a small zoo, including a pair of young zebras. There is a picnic area and playground next door, so watch out for field trip groups during May!
For a small town like Little Falls, this zoo is fantastic! It gives kids and families throughout central Minnesota the opportunity to see animals up close, but yet in more natural settings. Pine Grove and its supporters should be applauded for the time, money and concern they've shown upgrading the zoo over the past 15 years, turning it into a caring place for wild animals. And the grounds are beautiful too! Very worth the trip, and for any extra money you want to donate while you're there on top of the modest entry fee.
The zoo was small but not boring. The animals seemed well taken care of and when I visited there were adorable bear cubs. A trek through the entire zoo won't take long, but for the $6 admission price I think it is worth the trip if you're already in the area.
Pine Grove Zoo is very well maintained with a variety of animals. My Grandkids love to walk around to see what animals they can find. It is a small Zoo and very easy to get around. We have enjoyed watching the Zebra's getting bigger each time we go.
My wife and I met my mom and her man for lunch in Little Falls and then made our way to the Pine Grove Zoo. We had visited many times when it was a drive-thru zoo and this was my second visit in the past few years. Last time I visited it was raining, made for a cold trip. This time the weather was perfect. As members of another zoo we got in for free and since their bear cubs had been sent back to SD, the winter discounted rate was in affect so it made for a very affordable trip to the zoo. We visited during a school day, so no one was really in the zoo except the living collection, keepers, and my family. The animals were very active and all seemed very well taking care of. There hasn't been too many changes since our last visit. Many memorable moments occurred and many more pictures were taken. This zoo is the perfect size for a family that has children with shorter attentions spans as you can get through the whole thing in an hour or so and then head to Pizza Ranch for lunch. Very worthwhile to visit and contribute to their goal of becoming AZA accredited.
