historic lift stillwater bridge

Stillwater, Minnesota is a beautiful town that has tons of antique shops. The old bridge has cars going back and forth on it all the time and the bridge is very narrow so small kids should not walk on this bridge! There is nothing on the Wisconsin side of this bridge just a huge hill going to a very small town. However, this bridge is fun to walk across to view the beautiful St. Croix river!

A very unique bridge! The "old bridge" became structurally unsound and had to be rebuilt. I didn't realize how inconvenient that "down time" affected my drive into Stillwater. I won't even complain anymore when the lift allows a boat to pass and delays my crossing.

Beautiful old bridge that cuts the drive time down considerably between Hudson, WI and Stillwater, MN. Very scenic driving to either side!

It's free. It's historic. It's unique. It's photogenic. It's very easy to get to! It's a no brainer !!!

A bridge. Well, what can you say? Its historic, been there forever and soon it will be no longer used (I heard) as its being replaced by another bridge farther down river. Constant traffic makes it kinda hard to really enjoy the view, it is cool to see it go up and come down but it is falling apart slowly and I guess its time for a replacement. There are lots of places to go shopping on the main road. We had a great time going from one shop to another. Here's a tip... Go in the summer. Too cold in the winter and it doesn't go up cause the river freezes.

This is a beautiful bridge that crosses the St. Croix river and connects Minnesota with Wisconsin. Pedestrians are allowed on the bridge (unless it's about to be raised), and if you visit Stillwater, I'd recommend taking a few minutes to walk out on the bridge and take in the views of the river you can see there (both up and down stream) as well as checking out the vista of Stillwater behind you.While there hang out and see if you can see the bridge be raised. It's a lot of fun to watch the span go up and see the big boats pass underneath.

This would be a 5 out of 5 stars, but with the constant traffic it makes it hard to really enjoy the view. This will get better when the traffic stops as the new bridge is being built.

We walked along the river enjoying a beautiful afternoon. The historic bridge was interesting and a nice free attraction if you visit Stillwater.

A nostalgic out of the past type bridge that connects Wisconsin to Minnesota's oldest city. Yes it is being replaced as the chief mode of travel but shall never be lost to those that grew up with this iconic structure. I am sure it will be an attraction for years to come.

It looks like a postcard. A perfect way to end a delious meal....a cup of coffee and river watch. It is so serene and peaceful. We love to sit there every night and sock in the beauty.

The Stillwater Lift Bridge is something you must see if you come to Stillwater. Currently it carries traffic between Minnesota and Wisconsin. In 2016 it will be closed to motorized vehicles and will only carry pedestrians and bicycles. Recommended place to walk over to get close to the St. Croix river. The drive is nice too. Crossing into Minnesota on the bridge at night from Wisconsin is very beautiful with all of the lights in Stillwater shinning.

スティルウォーターのランドマークの可動橋です。近くから見ても美しいですが、小高い丘の上から眺めても素敵です。橋を渡れば隣の州です。近くを発着する遊覧船はシーズン運行なので注意が必要です。
