The presentation of artifacts in this museum was very well-done. They have areas set up like a saloon, parlor, school, etc.

For $5 you can learn quite a bit about the history of Boise and Idaho. This museum is your typical state history museum and as such is enjoyable and educational. It is located next to the art museum and rose garden in a park setting.

This is a satisfying museum for both adults and children. Adults will admire the huge beautiful saloon, find it interesting to look at home furnishings from homes in the past and appreciate learning about the impressive explorations of Lewis and Clark. Who knew that they were accompanied by explorers from Hawaii??Children will enjoy dressing up as explorers or as a potato with garnishes.(!!!) And both adults and kids will try out the side saddle and gawk at the stuffed two headed calf.

Our family loves history, and if a museum can make history fun and interactive, all the better. My kids played a checkers game called Cows vs. Sheep and then they spent an unbelievable amount of time playing with the huge potato. They loved that potato. Let me explain about the potato: Its a huge plaster thing and there are various condiments, such as cheese, butter, broccoli and sour cream that the kids can either dress up in or dress the potato.

Great overview of the history of the greatest state in the Union. We liked the intimate atmosphere, displays, and the eagerness of the staff to share more background on interesting events.

If you enjoy the historical aspect of cities and states, you won't be disappointed. The cost was very reasonable and I enjoyed the displays and historical information.

Living in Idaho, I have been to the museum many times and it's a good one, a lot of interesting information about the wonderful history of Idaho. A MUST see if you are visiting Idaho or living here.

Front desk assistant was very helpful, I can't remember his name, I think it was Sean. He was very nice and very accommodating. We weren't sure if photography is allowed inside the museum and they told us it is allowed. And at the end of our visit, we had to participate and we even got a souvenir glass. It was just awesome. You'll learn a lot about Idaho history. Definitely worth paying a visit.

Visited the museum to view the 150 exhibits from around the State. Clean, quiet and well laid out. My parents enjoyed the history as well.

My child's school went there and I volunteered to go with them on the bus. It was the best. My child was doing a report about Indians, and she really gathered a lot of information for her report. Se got an A-. But that's okay. :)

This little museum was a favorite place in Boise from a first visit there and remains so. It is jam-packed, however, so you will want to take your sweet time. I would not bring small children, even in strollers, unless very small and possibly asleep. I made this error with my 2 1/2 year-old grandbaby, and it ended up be ing a very short visit!I particularly love the history of the Lewis and Clarke Exploration and the general history of Idaho and the West. Being from the Southeast, this is all fascinating. It is also a very beautiful little museum and has a great gift shop.

While its not a huge museum, it has a wide variety of information from around the state. Some of the special events, like the Dia Las Muertos altars in November, are worth checking out. Staff were very friendly and they had a scavenger hunt for the kids. You could easily do the tour in 1-2 hours, with short attention spans in tow, that was plenty. The two headed cow and giant potato were favorites. Wheelchair access was via elevator and was adequate. Its also within walking distance of Julia Davis park and rose garden, the BAM, and the zoo.

For a quick and easy peak at what Idaho is all about, this was perfect. Price was only $5 for adults. Bright and interesting displays with lots of info about the Lewis & Clark Expedition, too. We'd followed their trail along US-12 the day before so this was a great way to reinforce the driving experience. By the way, this route out of Missoula, MT to Boise, ID along the Lolo Pass was truly some of the prettiest scenery we've ever seen!
