kelly's whitewater park

On the north fork of the Payette River this handsome building faces the water where you're likely to see blue herons, ducks and kayakers drifting by. Nez Perce drummers honored Kelly Bryant in June. The historical interpretation of Shoshonis and Nez Perce, loggers, ranchers, and recreationalists is interesting.

Kelly's white water park is a great place to visit if you're doing any paddling in Idaho. It's a fairly short drive from Boise- about an hour and a half- and you could conceivably mix it w/ a trip on the Payette if you started early. There are several features, ones good for all levels. The "locals" were friendly and very helpful. It's very scenic, there are lots of places to park and picnic if you want, and there are clean and convenient restrooms where you can change. All of this makes it unlike most "park and play" places. You can rent boats from Rivergear, which is just down the street from the enterance, or from places in Boise as well, if you don't have your own boat with you. Anyone interested in kayaking who is in Idaho should go there.

Beautiful venue. FREE. A peaceful and rejuvenating atmosphere. Pack a picnic lunch and take in the beautiful scenery. Be entertained by the kayackers. Kid friendly/ dog friendly. Must stop here - in Cascade/ near railroad tracks.

This is such a wonderful event. People from all over the world come to white water and have fun with the excitement of the event. I would recommend everyone go to this event. You won't be sorry

The park was closed but you could walk on the path, which was partly covered with snow and ice still. The Park is dedicated to and named after "Kelly" who died in a car accident as a young adult. It is right on a river and in the summer there are water activites available. But we were there in the winter and just enjoyed walking along the path, taking pictures and enjoying a beautiful day.

In the summer our family likes to go there with a picnic lunch from Subway, in town. We sit on the grassy knoll overlooking the kayakers and people rafting or tubing down the whitewater. It's not like "Raging Water's" water playground, but rather it's right in the middle of the Payette River, in Cascade. Check out their Visitor Center, too. They've built a beautiful building with an amptheater and TV monitors to also watch the action.
