This is a great place if you're a true skier and looking for real riding. No plush lodges here or pricey restaurants & shops. Just community ski hill to the core. Only open Fri-Sun. $38 for the lift ticket is cheap but you also don't get much for in-bounds terrain. If you're into backcountry skiing, the options above the lifts are limitless.

It is beautiful there and great skiing. The little town of Fairfield is small but friendly. The sky is always really blue.

We drove off the beaten track and I mean off...It sounded like a great adventure and turned into a fabulous day. Soldier Mountain is small, but great for skiing. There something for everyone. The lodge atmosphere is like having a large ski party with all your best friends in attendance. The food is delicious and very reasonable. The bar is small, but the specials are worth it. There is live local entertainment in the evenings after skiing. And the lift tickets are 1980's prices. A must do, if your going to Idaho.

Nice ski area, kinda off the beaten path. The snow was very good and the views were magnificent! The food was good in the lodge and the staff was very friendly.

Bruce Willis just donated this to a local non-profit. Shouold be business as usual this winter. This is a low cost mostly local weekend resort near Sun Valley. They get a number of AF clients from nearby Mt. Home Air Base.

Considering it is less than half of Baldy, this smaller ski mountain rates oretty well...the runs are failry groomed but the powder areas get a little deep. Don't expect anhything fancy here but if you are looking for a good time on the cheap, this could be it...worth the drive!

It's always colder there. The terrain makes it difficult for a tentative boarder to unload from the lift and to make it through a big hollow and over a ridge. I kept having to crawl out.

This was our first visit to Soldier Mountain to ski with friends and what a pleasant day it turned out to be! We found the small resort to be just right for a relaxing day of skiing including an enjoyable simple lunch in the sun on the patio. While Soldier Mountain only has 2 lifts and a rope tow, we found the runs on the Mountain to be wide and nicely groomed. Even though it was President’s weekend, the resort was not crowded and the lift lines were very short. All in all a great way to spend a day on the Mountain that is less than 2 hours away from Boise.
