The natural hot springs pools at the Spa are fantastic. A number of pools, all with different temperatures and depths. The location is unique, right along the river. The hotel itself is something out of the "Twilight Zone". The rooms are good sized, but the furnishings are in desperate need of updating. Our room had a window AC unit in it that had sheet plastic around it to keep the bugs out. We paid an extra $50 to have a room with a bathroom in it, which consisted of a toilet in a closet, literally a closet. The room was clean, just old and out dated. When I say outdated, we are talking about a 27 inch "tube" TV in the room. Did I mention that the waters are great! Breakfast was included with our room and it was very good.
We did not stay at the hotel, we only enjoyed the pools. The pools are fine, don't get me wrong. I just wonder why so many people in Salt Lake told me to go up there. There is a nearer nicer hot springs in Honeyville, Utah called Crystal Hot Springs. One thing this place does have over Crystal is its proximity to food, bars, hotels and a grocery store. The Crystal Hot springs is a little isolated.
This is a great place to take family or friends for a few hours of simple relaxation and conversation. The facilities are clean and there's something for people of all ages, including young children. There may have been people keeping an eye on things, but if so it wasn't obvious. People were left pretty much to their own devices, and perhaps because this is southern Idaho, everyone just naturally was on their best behavior. I would have no problems recommending the facilities to anyone wishing to visit this area.
This place is HOT and clean. The daily soaking fee is very fair. The "pools" are flow through with pea gravel bottoms. There are varying temperatures to suit every visitor. The only negative is the women who staff the office. Don't let that detour you, well worth the visit
The water was warm & wonderful, the pool a bit busy, but that was expected for a Saturday on a 3-day weekend.
Just wanted to get a way for the day. Took the ride with the weather being rainy. To soak the bones in the hot pool. Its always great to just get a way fir a short trip. The people are always nice and friendly the property is always nice and clean. Great get away.
Husband and I went for one night and stayed in the Spa room. Very nice room with a huge heart shaped jetted tub. Their hot pools are much nicer than the community pools and I would recommend paying to use these but when you stay here, they are free to use. The Inn was quiet and within walking distance to places to eat.
We mostly enjoyed our stay at the hotel after the shock of our rooms being across the street behind the local market. You have to take standard quality for the area into consideration when staying in Lava. I was however not ready for room to be located off property. It was not advised when booked over the phone or easily noted on their web site. If you are booking any of the Aladdin rooms you will be off property but you have full access to everything on site and breakfast. Our room, Aladdin #6 could be soooo cute with a little TLC but for the night it was fine. It has a loft with a double bed and a separate rooms with another double bed with a queen down stairs by the bathroom. It did have a jetted tub, we didn't try it out but they had a shower curtain to give you some privacy while on the toilet. There is no sitting room at all except the beds and stairs. The breakfast was better than toast and juice but don't expect restaurant quality by any means. The breakfast room was crammed with tables and chairs but it was nice they were larger tables. We were a party of 6 so it was nice we could sit together, as it was.It was great to have the pools on site so you didn't have to walk down & pay for the public pools. I think less crowded too I'm sure. All in all I would stay there again. I just wish I would have been prepared for the location of the room. Then I wouldn't have been disappointed at check in.
went out for coffee 3 separate hometown residents said we should not have stayed Here. The worst thing was the manager saying "The Hilton charges to use their pool after checkout". NOT true. We travel extensively-You are a guest til you depart. They even hold luggage!
As far as the places to stay in Lava Hot Springs this is a good one. It is a Motel so do not expect the Hilton. The rooms are large and clean. The lady at the front desk was very nice.
I love the environment, beautiful surrounds. The evening music by Bachelor Bob was the best.He is a modern country western singer, song writer. He plays guitar and accordion among other instruments, He has a great voice. Friendly and entertaining. You must see him and hear his voice. A great evening with good music. Pools were great too!Cricket
Very relaxing place nice people. We camped with many of our family for a reunion. The hot pools are great....nice time!
Always worth the short drive for a float down the river in the summers, or relaxing in the hot pools year round.
We like the pools and atmosphere of the Inn. George, the owner, is so very pleasant to visit with and everyone should go just to meet him.
Had a family gathering and enjoyed the Inn and Spa. The spa and swimming area is an Idaho tradition. The hot spings and geothermal areas in state are great for sore and achy bones and muscles. The best therapy the doctor could order.
