Really nice boardwalk but a little cool on the beach but stayed another day and the weather was perfect!
Bethany is a great , low key spot to enjoy the beach. We typically go in September or October when the weather is still great and the crowds are gone. The shops are pretty much touristity stuff with restaurants serving good, beach fare. People are very friendly and the vibe is pure chill. Love it!
This beach and shopping is much smaller than Rehoboth Beach. I really like it. The stores are more to my liking. I visited the day after Columbus Day. It was drizzling and pretty empty. The beach area is very clean. I will definitely go back.
For those looking for a great beach experience without the hassle or overly graphic posters and t-shirts, the Quiet Resort is the place for you. A relatively short boardwalk fronts the downtown area and provides access to the storefronts, restaurants, and beach along it's length. The main street of BB (Garfield Parkway) is undergoing renovation, widening and updating for bike lanes and better access to the fairly wide and bench dotted sidewalks. The "downtown" consists of one and a half blocks of restaurants, diners, and storefronts. Very walkable even for those that are "numerically age challenged" such as myself. Very enjoyable family experience without fear of panhandlers, inebriated souls or gangs of youths with indecent clothing. Summer experiences include movies on the beach, live music at the bandstand and bonfires on the beach. Truly a magical experience!
Beach boardwalk is a lovely stroll. Buildings near the boardwalk are nicely done and pleasing to the eye. Unlike other shore boardwalks with absence of clutter, no "yucky" commercialism.
The Bethany Beach boardwalk is a great place for kids to enjoy and the bands that are there every weekend provide entertainment for both young and old - we always get ice cream right there and sit and watch the people
Love this boardwalk! Size is much more manageable than OC Boardwalk! It has wonderful little shops and great choices for food. Great option for someone wanting less walking.
This is a classic "Prey on the Tourists", Civil Rights Violating, Local Yokel cops wet dream! The local merchants need to wise up and fire the local police chief and the mayor and elect some Tourist friendly CIVIL servants. As far as the Boardwalk is concerned it's not really a boardwalk at all. It more of a strip mall leading up to where you would expect a boardwalk to be, then there is nothing! No boardwalk in the sense you would imagine, like you would see in a truly developed beach town. The local merchants are pleasant and helpful. And there are some nice places to eat and shop, but honestly, ANY enjoyment you might have visiting Bethany Beach will quickly turn to anger and frustration when you're ticketed for parking anywhere, anytime!!! And don't think you won't be "targeted". The local cops there have been known to literally hide and ticket tourists AS they park and make their way to the parking pay station! They are completely unethical and only care about GENERATING REVENUE to pay their own salaries! - Sad but TRUE. Total Idiocracy!Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere!
Small, quaint, quiet, family beach resort. Lots of shops and food. Check out Sandy Toz shop. Every month she has specials. She had 50percent off clothing and apparel. $1.00 jewlery items. Weekend concerts. Movie night on the beach. The boardwalk can get congested and crowded in prime season. Great downtown area with walking and bike paths to get to downtown so you do not have to drive and park. Also great trolley system for transportation that has many convenient stops. The police force has a strong presence in the downtown area and they monitor highway 1 for speeding. A great family vacation spot.
It is a quaint boardwalk but very busy and crowded. Lots of shops, ice cream and fudge. There is a nice book store and certainly many beach supply shops. There is music from time to time but it is so crowded it can be hard moving around.
Loved the boardwalk. A nice break from the activity of nearby Rehoboth beach. Loved the morning exercise classes on the boardwalk, beach and bandstand area. Great boardwalk for an early morning walk!
You have to experience it before I say anything about it. They have numerous bands or entertainment on the weekends. This is a boardwalk for families. If you want to see America and all of its glory go to Ocean City. It is hard to explain but I like Bethany Beach. This is a quiet and quaint little area of life that needs to be explored by those who know what they want.
Feels very safe and secure when walking or visiting the shops on the Bethany Boardwalk. Can become crowded at times, but not a rush along or annoying crowd.
I've been frequenting this boardwalk since 2002. I avoid it during the summer, but even then it's much more tolerable and peaceful than OC or Rehoboth...a lot less crime too. I enjoy fall and winter walks here, and during the spring (April) I will never miss out on running in the Bunny Palooza race! This boardwalk is awesome--glad to live so close to it!
Bethany Beach's boardwalk is a very pleasant place to while away a few hours. Some nice opportunities to shop and some very good restaurants within walking distance. Not quite as big or number of shops as Rehoboth. But as in any seaside community in Delaware, bring a pocket full of quarters, because parking spots are hard to find and when you find one, it will cost you. To the tune of about $1.50 per hour at metered spaces.
