Very nice hour's drive in gorgeous country. Petroglyphs are easily seen, drive is beautiful along the Colorado river. Short so easy to do

There are markers near these petroglyphs which was really nice to get some information on them on the spot. We enjoyed looking for the bear (didn't find it!) and thinking about who carved them and how they lived.

It was snowing/raining so we decided to go here instead of a jeep trail. It's a nice scenic drive with Indian writings and arches. Fun drive next time we'll go to canyonlands from here.

If you like to bike, you'll really enjoy this quiet road to Potash. It's a beautiful, mostly flat ride that follows the Colorado River on one side and cliffs on the other where you'll see rock climbers practicing right at the shoulder of the road, the ancient cliff paintings (which are well marked at several spots) and a short hike to dinosaur prints. There is very little traffic so it's a very safe road to bike (unlike following the river in the opposite direction which is heavily traveled with no shoulder for bikers to escape speeding cars on the narrow twisty road). Loved it! Great ride.

A place everyone should visit at least once in their life. Rock colors, formations, and natural in general are awe inspiring. We traveled in the rain. The rain didn't dampen our spirits but, actually added to our adventure

This was a fun easy drive down Potash road. Rock are was cool to see along with rock climbers on side of road.

You need only park and look up to see some very cool rock art. If you're in Moab, this is a no-brainer. Just pay attention to traffic as you walk.

An opportunity to see the rock art (petroglyphs) from really close, without any barriers and "guides". Well marked pull outs to stop and enjoy the views along Colorado river.Very nice (not marked) climb to the dinosaurs' footprints at the end. A little puzzle to solve how to get there, but shall be easy even for families with children. Remember to keep it intact!

Utah in itself is quite beautiful, and one of the things that makes it so is the history. Taking a drive along byway 279 has scenic beauty but the rock art along the way was really a sight to see. So primitive but you can often make out what this ancient artist was trying to convey. With the passage of time some of the art has faded, and unfortunately a few were lost to modern graffiti but there are still many beautiful images to behold. I would definitely recommend this as something to see if you have the time and are in the area.

Located right on UT 279, the rock art is stunning. The location on the banks of the Colorado and along steep cliffs is beautiful. Highly recommended. Will take an hour of your time from when you turn onto UT 279.

It's only a 2 lane road so you can get blocked in. And you will like the views. And trip adviser is making me mad. Why do you have to write so much, just go and see the sights.

Next to the road, there are many panels of petroglyphs to see and take pictures of. Binoculars are very helpful for those way up on the cliff faces. Depending on the time of day, they will be easier or harder to see because of the sun. Near the end of the rock art area (I think it is called Poison Spider Trail) , there is a hiking trail to go see a couple of dino paw tracks that have been highlighted in white so you can see them. The trail continues and there are more petroglyphs and more tracks. There are a couple of glyphs on the way up to the first tracks. If you like the rock art, this road and its stops are well worth the time. There are many other public rock art sites in the Moab area.

Stop. You will see Indian Writing, and a lot of rock climbers in morning. Before you go to Corona Arch, a decent rest area to use. Bring hand sanitizer ( always )

We combined this byway with a visit to Needles section of Canyonland NP. More than worth the time for the scenery and especially for the pyctographs at Newspaper Rock.
