Finally kicked this off my "bucket list". We really recommend that you give this business a try. We wanted to take our glider flight together, and most locations only have gliders for the pilot and one other person. So we did drive out of our way to come to this location. No regrets! It's a beautiful area. My husband and I were able to sit together behind the pilot. You need to know though, that it's a tight fit. They also have a weight restriction, which we fell under. We were seated comfortably together, and the whole flight was comfortable for us. To get in though, it takes some work and so I would only recommend that you take your flight together if you are both small framed or maybe an adult and child riding together. We had a great time here and would definitely do this again.

The Tennessee DOT has finally completed the section of U.S. 411 that runs by the Chilhowee gliderport, so access to the facility is even easier than it was before. Beautiful setting and lots of flying action, mostly on the weekends. The tow planes are as much fun to watch in action as the gliders. Once they cut the glider loose, it's fun to watch them get back and land as soon as possible to pick up another tow.

I took my son to the CSA facility in Benton to get him an intro soaring flight for his 14th birthday and we had a great time there. The staff is friendly and helpful and the setting is beautiful. If nothing else it's a great place just to stop by and watch the soaring activities. Located just a few miles north of Benton, TN. on highway 411 they're very easy to find. Stop by if you're in the area and check it out.

We are there at least six times a year. Whether circling up under the clouds in summer or running the ridge to see the fall tree colors, your view is exciting. A certified commercial pilot took us aloft behind a powerful towplaneto ridgetop level. The Hiwassee River come sthru a break in the ridgeline and runs by the gliderport, so no getting lost.Sarah and Jason run the place with various experienced volunteers to help you get your seatbelt and shoulder harness on. After a few bounces we're in the air climbing above the countryside.The office is quaint with airconditioning if it's really hot while you wait and there's a fireplace in winter. A few times a year it is VERY BUSY, so it may take a while before we got a ride.Actually I have rented a two-seater several times and given a friend a ride, so this review is a collection of my experiences and what one might expect.
