Having never visited a Civil War area, it was nice to see a well kept cemetery for how old it is. Headstones from that time are there and everything was well maintained. A respectful place to visit those who fought.
We spent a shot time at the cemetery. It was well kept, peaceful and respectful to those resting there.
this was a well kept cementary, had alot of history, this was a reminder of the men who fought for a our freedom it was a very moving exsperince.
This cemetery, as many Civil War Cemeteries in the South, are filled with Union Troops. It is quite a site to see how they were put into place with a perimeter, moving in towards a center. This is quite different from Stones River. While doing our Junior Ranger work, we found there were four colored troops who fought for the Union laid to rest here. More recent troops and their spouses are buried there as well. There is still a keeper's house and other buildings on the property.Overall, this cemetery is very moving.
Poignant, moving and a sharp reminder of the real cost of war. So very well presented and maintained. It is a wonderful location for quiet contemplation after visiting the battlefield.
Many people of our country forget that our veterans have written a blank check to our country. All gave some and some gave ALL, which is evident by many of the veterans who sleep here in the beautiful and quiet cemetery. It is a humbling place to visit.
Again,I liked that this area hasn't been made into a tourist trap. It is well maintained . Wish I could have spoken with the director; there was no one around. . My great great grandfather helped establish the cemetery in 1867. Would like to know if they had any records from that time.
This was one of the stops on the Fort Donelson civil war battlefield driving tour. It contains the graves of civil war veterans and veterans of later wars and their wives. It was very well maintained and we enjoyed the stop. If you go here go to the Fort Donelson visitor center to get a map and do the whole driving tour. I think there were 11 stops.
If you love history youll enjoy seeing this. It was very quiet and I enjoy reading all of the information.
This is a great place to take the kids to have a fun outing but to also learn about the sacrifices that others have made for our freedoms. We visit here anytime that we are camping at Kentucky lake. This is a short drive from the lake and gives kids something interesting to do during a week long camping trip.

Being a Civil War buff, my husband had always wanted to visit since his ancestors fought here. It was a great visit. The staff were very friendly and helpful for him. It had a small museum which was enlightening. Had a great time!
