Moderate hiking trails in good condition. Spring is great time of year to visit or in the Fall whent the leaves are turning. Some hike and some run the trails. Couple good sized hills to get the legs burning. Deer are known to be a few feet away and just watch you as you go by. Cave entrance is nice and cool in the hot muggy summer.

Lots of history here from reading the boards at the cave. Nice walking area. Lots of seating. Great place to fish.

This park is beautiful. Hiking trails are fun. The wildlife are abundant. Plenty of seating nearthe mouth of the cave which is really nice during the summer when it gets unGodly hot. There is a small museum here that features different displays. The staff are always friendly. But it's got one major obstacle. It's not handicap friendly at all. If they could fix that, it would be 100%.

It is a pretty walk to the cave and I enjoyed reading how the area was used back in the 1800's and early 1900's. It is sad that the cave itself is cordoned off and the bats are gone. An interesting peek into a bygone era.

Dunbar Cave is a very lovely place to hike. The trail is short enough to bring small children, and long enough to get a few miles of hiking in. You can loop around the shorter loop and take the longer loop to extend the distance. The trail goes along Swan Lake where you can see turtles, geese and fish. If you would like to tour the cave, call a day ahead. The cave is a great place to cool off on a hot summer day, and it has enough features to be quite enjoyable. Plus the tour gives you a chance to learn about the local history. The cave may not be open due to the white nose syndrome. At the mouth of the cave you can see where bands played and people danced to the music. There are still events hosted at the cave each year. Always fun at Halloween.

What can I say about Dunbar? It's an oasis in the heart of a city, a cool summer getaway for an hour or a day. Bring a picnic lunch and sit by the cooling air of cave entrance, or by water's edge where the ducks congregate. Ample short and longer trails, a nice exhibit hall, clean restrooms. Mostly, though, it is a place of peace and quiet that can be accessed by driving just a few miles from downtown and other urban shopping areas. Their specialty programs are simple fun and sometimes a learning curve, especially for children. If you want to get away from the noise and fast manic pace of commercial venues, stop by Dunbar Cave and plan to stay a while. It's been a favorite since I first moved here over ten years ago.

Dunbar cave is a state natural area in my hometown of Clarksville,TN.When I was a young lad we used to go swimming at the public pool there.I also went on my first cave spelunk there.You can also fish in the small Swan Lake(yes,there are swans there).You can hike the miles of trails surrounding the cave.Grand Ole Opry star Roy Acuff bought the cave and used to have concerts and dances there at the mouth in the pre-a/c days.like most caves dunbar stays a pleasant temp all year.I did see where they closed the cave for a few months last year so the bats won't be disturbed as the population is under stress do to white nose.Native Americans had been visiting the cave since pre-historic times and petroglyphs were found just 10 years ago.dunbar cave is just a beautiful piece of serenity in the middle of the ever growing city ahat is Clarksville.

It has some nice little hiking trails, the visitor center is nice.The pictures of what it looked like when they had music and dancing there are a nice touch

Great hike ....the shorter route with family, and baby on back :) Very nice walk, with some ups and downs through the woods. Loved the man-made bridges, and the most recent bridge (1.2.2014) erected by an Eagle Scout. Quite an impressive project. The lake was dry, but that didn't matter. I'm from NH, and have been on some nice hikes, but this really is quite similar to shorter ones we've been on up in the great North Woods. We really enjoyed the caves, and the history of them. Quite interesting, and a lot to take in, in just a short period of time :) We didn't even take enough pictures. I highly recommend the shorter or the longer route, for that matter, for either a hike, or a GREAT RUN through though the woods!!!! Go for it, whether you live in Clarksville, or visiting from out of town!! Carol

This place reminded me of the writings of Mark Twain and the Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Not only was I looking for bats but also for Indian Joe. This is a neat place to see nature. Bring your camera because you will see a lot of picturesque scenery to snap. I recommend you check this out.

Dunbar cave has a couple of nice hiking trails and the scenery is really nice. The entrance to the cave is really neat, and there is some history there. The little museum was closed while we were there, but I am looking forward to a return trip to hike and go thru the museum.

It was a great attraction for first timers to the area I would recommend this to other visitors. My kids who stay in the area enjoyed this attraction also

If you are looking for a good trail run or walk in clarksville, Dunbar Cave is a great choice. There are two trails you can choose from and it is quick to get there from almost anywhere in town.

We recently went to Dunbar Cave State Park to take some family photos. The scenery is very nice this time of year. It's a great place to do some hiking, running, walking or just enjoying the outdoors. Plenty of nature and wildlife to be seen and enjoyed. It's also a great place for photography. Free family fun!
