This place is not to be missed, if you do nothing else in the area, go here. Even if you are passing through, you should stop by. There isn't much supervision/help there, it's a do it yourself kind of place. There are a lot of historical items to be viewed. Old farm equipment, old Colorado license plates, and a bunch of other neat stuff. History buffs should enjoy this museum. I really liked the large dump truck (looks like from a mining operation?) and the tank. The pet Elk is also a must see. Very cool.

We went on a drive from Steamboat and spotted this sign that said Museum on the side of the road. Thought well we better check this big tin building out. We are so happy we did. Not only do they have a real live elk for the kids to see, but inside they have a collection of historical items from cars, sewing machines, phones, animals, planes, toys, kitchen utensils, tools and so much more. Best of all it was Free. The lady working the front counter was fantastic and we likely spent an hour just talking to her and listening to her stories about the area. This in one of those things we will cherish as the little things in life that make us smile every time we think back upon it.

Loved seeing all the history of the area. A tank in the front parking lot. And Junior the famous elk. Wonderful old buildings.

I have visited the Museum 3 or 4 times and twice I managed to get a special tour with Mr. Wyman as my guide. This is a real treat. He showed me the place where he keeps the farm implements and he has a story about each implement. I was never a farmer but Mr. Wyman made each item come alive. After 60 years of collecting there are lots of new things to see when I visit. He has a part time restoration specialist. working on a 1940 Dodge Command Car that was used in World War II. And a 1923 Harley Davidson with side car is being restored as well. The Harley sits next to a 1918 Liberty truck from World War I. If you visit this wonderful place plan on more than one day and you might be able to get a special guided tour.

My wife and I spent 17 days doing a 4 State road trip and passed thru Craig, CO. We visited this piece of Americana on the roadside. Its a grouping of several buildings as you approach. We you pull up you see one of the newest attractions a M-47 Patton Light Tank. Neat from the start. there is a hodge podge of items scattered all over the property.Upon entering the museum, we were greeted by Mr. Wyman who then entertained us with stories. Mr. Wyman is an original "American Picker" who gave us a mini tour of his museum including a an old Ford that used a device on the back end to drive early washing machines. He then showed us one of his loves, an old typewriter that printed on the paper on the reverse, so you could only read it after it was fully typed.Annie a volunteer/employee then took over and walked us over the property and answered questions. My wife loved visiting with the 3 yr old Elk and she was able to feel the "velvet" antlers and feed the elk. Since she really didn't see Elk in Yellowstone, this was a treat for her.The museum is free, has rest rooms and other than the main building is not wheelchair accessible. The property is level. Contributions are welcomed. What we loved about this museum, is Mr. Wyman a man who has collected stuff for 70 years and is willing to share his collection that ranges from cars, chainsaws, a tank, an Elk, and more.

Stopped at the Wyman while on tour in Colorado. We had the pleasure of being shown around the museum and property by the delightful Lou Wyman. What an extraordinary man! He has collected so much history - you can spend several hours poking around and looking at the very diverse display, everything from old farming equipment to license plates, caskets, toilets, you name it. Was surprised that it was so interesting. Vicky Boulger, who helps Lou run the museum, was very kind and helpful. You can also visit with Junior the Elk, who likes to eat Oreos!

I was skeptical that I would find this collection of farming implements, chain saws, license plates etc interesting but I did. The variety of objects aptly presents Colorado life in the 1900's. Watch for the small sign as you approach Craig from the east on route 40 although there is a large sign Museum Open on the building after the turn off.

What started out as a local man's collection has turned into a great museum full of unusual finds! They also offer lots of festivals and family events throughout the year! The only place in NW Colorado that you're going to experience a tank! Don't miss Jr. the Elk either!

This place is full of interesting stuff, both outside and inside. It's inexpensive, too. We were impressed with the licence plate collection that spanned several decades.

Stopped here based on other Tripadvisor reviews and wasn't disappointed. So many interesting things in a sort of mixed-bag approach. Owners were friendly and more than willing to talk about the museum. If you are just mildly interested in history or an all-out history buff, you'll find something interesting to see here!

I'm a retired elementary school teacher and will go back just to review the history. A real gem in rural Colorado. Worth a trip to Craig.

We were in Craig to watch a friend race snowmobiles. This race is held in conjuction with their Winter Carnival and is hosted by the Wyman Ranch. What we found was a wonderful surprise. The Wyman Ranch is also the home of the Wyman Living History Museum. I cannot do this museum justice in trying to describe it, so you really need to go to their website for a better overview. It is huge and has some of the most unique collections I have ever seen. So much to look at, great staff and Mr. Wyman is often there and more than willing to share his vast knowledge. My husband and a friend disappeared for hours and I discovered that Mr. Wyman had given them a wonderful tour of the place. If you are anywhere in the area, take some time and explore this wonderful piece of history. It is only 4 miles east of Craig and 15 minutes from Hayden. If you are in Steamboat Springs and need a break, this is less than an hour away and truly worth the trip.
