We love Catskill Animal Sanctuary so much! Its so hard to even put into words how magical and healing this place is. Kathy Stevens created a haven for rescued "farm" animals, and now around 300 animals live at the sanctuary - all rescued from bad situations. But instead of being a place of sadness, this sanctuary is so uplifting, because Kathy Stevens and her team of volunteers and staff rehabilitate the animals by listening to them and letting them guide their own recovery. It is a place of tremendous kindness and compassion, and when you go there, you feel very blessed. Its wonderful to walk through the sanctuary and pet animals, and see their native curiosity and playfulness come out. I cannot say enough good things about how beautiful and peaceful it is to be at Catskill Animal Sanctuary and can highly recommend reading Kathy Stevens's books on how the places was founded and the stories of the animals who live there.

Hi,My friend and I went on a fantastic tour thanks to the guidance of "Fella" on Saturday. She was FANTASTIC, full of thoughtful information, excellent suggestions, and she wasn't preaching at all. I got a lot out of my experience and marvel at the wonderful things you are doing to help the animals.I am vegetarian but not vegan. Recently, I have considered eating seafood again because I need more protein, but thanks to a vegan cookbook written by the Gentle Chef, suggested by "Fella", I am now going to pursue that route instead.I cannot thank you enough. The Catskill Animal Sanctuary is such a wonderful place for rescued and neglected farm animals. I loved this place. It is so peaceful here for the animals and they have a lot of room to roam freely surrounded by beautiful mountains. The tour guide was extremely educated in each animal's history and provided the group with a lot of information about the methods of modern factory farming and how animals are horribly mistreated and abused. The staff is very friendly and educated. Walking through the sanctuary, I felt an overall peace with these farm animals. I love the fact that they rescue farm animals such as horses that are blind and have been abused in the past. All the animals were happy, well-fed, and well taken care of and pampered and loved. I loved how the chickens and turkeys had a lot of room to roam outside and had a barn to rest and sleep in. They even take care of stray cats. This sanctuary is incredible and I really enjoyed spending time with all the sweet and loving animals.

The Catskill Animal Sanctuary is amazing! Great place to learn about farm animals and support a not-for-profit which does such wonderful things for animals. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the members of the Sanctuary, and it was wonderful to bond with all of the animals. We will definitely be back soon!

We loved our stay at the Homestead. The guest house is beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Erica made us feel welcome and cooked delicious vegan pancakes in the morning. We were lucky to be able to join the founder Kathy on a private tour of the sanctuary which was just amazing. Getting to meet the animals and hear their individual stories really touched us. We were happy to help support the loving care of the farm animals and the people who make it happen. It was an amazing experience and we highly recommend it.

My friend and I had been wanting to visit CAS for a while. We were thrilled to finally get there this summer! Everyone was friendly and knowledgable. The farm was beautiful, happy, and so heartwarming. There needs to be more places of its kind. I am spreading the joy of my visit to all with great pleasure! I can't wait to return!

What an act of loving kindness to provide a true refuge and sanctuary for animals and love and nurture them back to health and help them thrive again!Kathy's heart and this sanctuary can restore one's faith in humanity!

Just enjoyed a wonderful and unforgettable three nights and four days at CAS! We wanted something "different" and exciting while avoiding Disney-esque crowds and lines for our children (5 and 7 years old.) A long stay at CAS will provide your children with the vacation of a lifetime. We enjoyed leisurely walks around the farm (as VIP guests of the Homestead) visiting with the animals and interacting with staff who are happy to tell you stories and tales of the wayward animals now in sanctuary. It's truly magical. And while CAS serves to deliver the message and awareness of cruelty, it is still a very child-friendly and age appropriate experience for the children. Our kids sat with the pigs, hugged the goats, massaged the sheep and carried the free-roaming roosters around like small lap dogs! We took a private tour with Erica, the Innkeeper, who my children adored right away. Erica also provided us with a large, fresh, homemade, delicious breakfast every morning! Coffee, tea, water, cereal and fruit were available throughout the day as well.The Inn itself is worth the trip. CHARM, CHARM, CHARM! Exposed brick walls and original wide plank wooden floors took you back in time...yet, all the modern conveniences (including a state of the art kitchen) are included. Splurge on the Samson suite and really spread out and feel at home with your own living room and kitchen. All the rooms are lovely and quaint and clean and comfortable. For a family of four, the Samson was perfect. We took many walks down to the farm or just sat and rocked on the porch while the kids ran around the yard. Plenty of picnic areas for outdoor picnic at the house. When the kids had enough of the farm for a day, Erica referred us to some great attractions. We did a day trip to Kaaterskill Falls and it was DEFINITELY worth the trip. GREAT (but challenging) little hike that is no problem for even a four year old if you take your time. Great reward at the top with gorgeous waterfall and large, rocks where you can sit and have a picnic snack. Took a day trip into nearby Woodstock as well. Great little quaint towns and history in every direction. Lots of great vegan eating in the area too if you have a car and GPS. HIGHLY recommend a solid four or five days stay in and around the farm for the family vacation of a lifetime. Relax and reconnect on the farm. Your kids will thank you!

I loved the tour of the sanctuary and all of the animals you get to see and hear about. They do excellent work with their rescues of animals!

My kids and I loved this place- they were able to hold all sorts of animals and get close- I hugged a sheep! Never in my life! The tour guide was excellent. A must see !

This is a fantastic way to spend an afternoon and to educate yourself and your families about the importance of switching to a plant based diet. It's better for your health and better for our planet . Go plant based!!!
