If you grew up in Cuba (New York, not that OTHER Cuba) or live there now, there's no better way to learn about your home town. We were able to go on a semi-guided tour of the museum by one of the curators, who gave us context for many of the exhibits (and also tips on where to find the best salt-rising bread in town---YUM!).They have an abundance of stuff here---typewriters from old banks; vintage high school sports uniforms; displays about Charles Phillip Ingalls (the real-life counterpart for Pa in Little House on the Prairie); photographs of the town; books and binders you can look through. There's actually too much stuff in the museum for the space they're in, so shelves and display cases are crammed pretty tight. The museum's normal hours are Friday, 2-4 PM, and...that's it. But you can call ahead (like we did) and make a special appointment to tour the museum, and they'll try to accommodate you if they can. While you're in the area be sure to check out the Cuba Cheese Shop and (if it's open) the Cuba Cheese Museum, for the full Cuba experience!
