I'm not much of a buildings person but this place has a fascinating history so well worth a visit. The views from the garden side of house are stunning. Gardens..pleasant enough.
the restored mansion and grounds are beautiful. But the views down the Hudson towards West Point are spectacular. If you are in the area and like outdoor concerts or just roam the grounds and marvel at the beauty. I was there for an outdoor 50th birthday party in August it was wonderful.
The New York Shakespeare Festival does their summer program here. The property is spectacular with amazing views. Also home of the summer Cold Spring Farmers' Market.
The tour I attended, led by docent Renee, was so interesting and informative! It was amazing how much detail about the beautiful house, its history, its architecture, and its time period Renee knew and explained to our group.I highly recommend this tour for everyone. The house is on the most exquisite grounds with a phenomenal view of the Hudson River. The trip is worth the view alone!
The house and grounds are beautiful anytime of the year, but I have to say that during the Holiday Seasons from Thanksgiving thru New Years is just gorgeous. It's done in period era as well as the staff. Taste some hot cider and cheese and enjoy the lights and trees
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour of Boscobel Mansion - tour guide was delightful - followed by most enjoyable luncheon in marquee in the grounds.
This beautiful house located on the Hudson River across from West Point is a wonderful point to appreciate the magnificent Hudson River and to learn a bit of history. In season, it has wonderful gardens. The Shakespeare on the grounds, preceded by a picnic if you wish, is great fun with a resident cast and slightly off-beat productions. It also has a good gift shop.
We went on a perfect early fall day, when the foliage was at its peak, and between the grandeur of the house and grounds and their remarkable spot overlooking the Hudson, this was one of the best historic house visits we've had. Simply wonderful!
They do have a cost for this attraction but offer a AAA discount. The grounds and gardens are beautiful. The tour was great and they gave free cookies and tea at the end. The property is high above the river and you get a beautiful view of the valley. Isn't that crowded if you go off season. They also have Shakespeare festivals here and I can't wait to see the shows for that in the warmer months.
A great place to visit on a weekend getaway from New York City.Easy commute from Grand Central Awesome view of the Hudson River.Serenity at its best.
Visited Boscobel (local attraction) with friends and had a very enjoyable day. The view of the Hudson River is spectacular. The gardens and house are beautifully kept. To my surprise they have a fantastic extensive guided tour of the house. If you live locally stop by your town library for a free pass. During our visit they had a special art exhibition, which added to the nice day. I was told they have food available, but on our way we stopped into the quaint village of Cold Springs. Plenty of choices for lunch and boutique shops if you like window shopping. Check out my review on Cathryn's Tuscan Grill - where we ate.
Great place to tour and take photos. Stunning views of Hudson River. This is a walking history lesson. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Worth the trip
Boscobel is a lovely, moved and restored 19th century house overlooking the Hudson river at Garrison, opposite West Point. Our tour guide, Mr. Griffin, was excellent, well-versed in many intricate, interesting details of the house and it's many owners. The site is stunning, possibly one of the most beautiful locations on the Hudson, and the grounds are well maintained and of a manageable size.
Boscobel house & Gardens is absolutely beautiful. It is worth taking the tour of the mansion. There is a lot of interesting history behind it. The views are absolutely beautiful. There is also a small art gallery that is worth seeing. The staff was very friendly and professional. I took the guided tour with an older gentlemen named Sam who was wonderful. He was not only enthusiastic, but was also very knowledgeable. I recommend visiting their cute little gift shop. They have some delicious chocolate made in NY. Boscobel was worth the visit.
This was fine. The early 1800’s house is manageable and the grounds are also. This makes for a short, but interesting and informative tour. The views are spectacular and the staff was very professional. Do not miss the art gallery in the basement. We were glad we went. We were able to do the 9:45 West Point tour and make it over to catch the 11:30 tour here.
