I haven't been back since I didnt enjoy any of their wines. The people were nice enough and the winery ok, I just simply didn't like the wine.
Adair has a beautiful location and a true commitment to quality seasonal wines. They produce a wide variety of wines but have a limited number for sale and tasting at any given time because they produce smaller batches utilizing seasonal produce. They have several rather nice clean whites ranging in dryness as well as several reds and more seasonal fruit varieties. The tasting experience is a relaxed country elegance. Their website seems like it needs work though.
Part of the Shawangunk Mountains wine tasting tour, Adair Vinyards is a 10 acre vinyard on the outskirts of New Paltz, New York. A 200 year old barn holds the tasting rooom and gift shop. The gift shop and tasting room is in a converted hay loft upstairs while the manufacturing takes place on the ground floor level. The wines are family produced and range from dry to slightly sweet. At a cost of $5 you can sample 2 white (Seyual Blanc, Vignoles), 2 reds (Foch and Millot) and I had a Peche (a dessert wine made from 100% white, yellow and donut peaches grown locally). I like the fact that all the products are locally grown including the above mentioned, as well as, blackberries, current and apricot. Wines can be sampled on Friday,Saturday and Sunday for most of the year, 11-6 or 11-5 depending on the season. I particularly enjoyed the white dry wines and the stroll to see the vinyards in the back.
