sail priscilla

We sailed on the Priscilla (Long Island sound oyster sloop) run by the Long Island maritime museum. The crew are all volunteers and they are fabulous. They not only sail this ship but explain its history. It is a national historic landmark. It cost us $30 pp for a 2 hour sailing on the beautiful great South Bay. It was a stunning day -very relaxing and informative. We are native New Yorkers and I think this is one of those great kept secrets. We were on the 1:00 public sailing. U do need to check the schedule as it varies. After we returned we went to the hidden valley cafe at the bayyard cutting arboretum (which is another awesome outing) for lunch where we enjoyed fresh inexpensive food with another fantastic view overlooking the great lawn and great river. We have such treasures available to us on Long Island We haven't been to the Long Island maritime museum yet but it is now high on our list.
