Bald Mountain is perfect for the beginner hiker. Trail is well marked. Getting to the top is clearly worth the effort. Once you get there, it is simply a BEAUTIFUL, Breath-taking view!

I have been to Old Forge numerous times but have never really did much hiking. This time we took the hike up Bald Mountain to the Fire Tower and it was spectacular. The views from the top were the best I have seen in the area. It is not as easy as I thought either. It is about a mile but you are climbing up rocks most of the way. We did see all ages of people up there so it can be done by everyone. I had a few moments up there because I have a fear of heights but I got over them and even climb to the top of the fire tower. If you are in Old Forge in the fall I highly recommend this hike.
