Although I did not get to see real puffins on this trip I certainly learned a lot by visiting the Project Puffin Visitor Center. Plus puffins are really cute

The project Puffin Visitor center details the success of the project to repopulate the Maine islands with these birds. The project has experienced a great deal of success and is a shinning example of the good things people can do to help nature return to the true course before man messed things up so badly.I wish we were able to see actual puffins but it is not the season. The video is very informative and this is a great story

Although we did not stay for the video, my husband and i strolled through this very informative center that explains the improving health of the puffin population. Great maps, brochures, web site info to view puffins during season. Lots of souvenir items. This center makes you appreciate the many people who are working to maintain puffin nesting sites. On my next visit to Maine I definitely want to book a Puffin cruise.

We stopped by here thinking it was a town visitor center. Wrong! Very informative video on the Puffing Project and some very good info from the staff. Learned a lot about puffins as well as few other seabirds. Great stop if you are interested.

The Puffin Centers off shore cameras provide a great view of the island nesting places for Puffins. Also enjoyed a movie which documented the effort to reestablish the Maine nesting sites.

They have done outstanding work in re-establishing the Atlantic Puffin to the Bay of Maine. Good video and fund raising for a good cause. The puffins were almost extinct in the area and they took chicks from nearby islands in Canada and brought them toe the bay to establish a homing. The chicks make their way on their own and spend 3 years at sea before returning to mate. It worked. Larger puffin colonies of several hundred birds now exist on several islands in the bay.

I did not know too much about the Puffins. The film was most beneficial and the question/answer session was intimate and worthwhile.

What a great little place! Operated by the Audubon society, this is a neat place to learn about some of the seabirds of Maine, particularly the puffins. Be sure to see the video presentation to fully appreciate the work that has been done to restore the puffins to coastal Maine. we really enjoyed our visit here!

We learned a lot about the efforts of scientist to rein habit the islands off the Maine coast with puffins by watching a fun 20 minute film. You can't help but love these water birds after hearing them and seeing them interact. Glad we stopped by!

I was the only one in the center at that time...there wasn't much that interested me...there was a video presentation but I didn't care to watch it alone.

If you are as fond of these little sad-clown-faced sea birds as we are, you mustn't miss this excellent showcase for them. We especially like the hidden camera videos of daily life on the bird islands and the explanations of how the puffins live when they're in Maine. My grandkids especially liked it, and we plan to go out and visit one of their nesting islands next summer. If sea birds are your thing, also visit the nearby Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center.

A small shop and theater to make visitors aware of the long- term efforts to save the puffin. Go to the back through the hallway to view the well-done video, then come back up front to buy a momento and donate to the cause.

We stopped in with our 2 year old and watched the Puffin documentary. We stayed in the movie theater and our daughter explored the puffin habitat and had fun playing with the large puffin stuffed animals. We found the visit educational and informative.

It is located on Maine street, and if you like puffins like we do, it is worth a stop. They have a movie explaining the project and the focus of bringing puffins back to the islands off the coast of Maine. Children can explore a puffin burrow and play with a variety of stuffed puffins. The gift shop is full of puffin memorabilia with the money going towards continuing the focus of the project. Staff is friendly and well informed
