acadian village

Located just outside of Van Buren Maine, is a cultural surprise. This re-creation of a Acadian Settlement tells the history of the Acadian people that settled in the St. John Valley in the late 1700"s when they were driven out of Nova Scotia. This is a wonderful view to how it used to be. Life was hard then. These proud people worked hard to provide for their families. Their descendants are still found here as well as throughout the US and Canada. Very interesting place. Great place to take kids when old enough to understand. Our family has been there several times, and we always enjoy it.
