Enjoyed moseying around this quaint little museum with a friend on a winter afternoon. The unique Kentucky artifacts were interesting and the pictures of MLK visiting Frankfort were neat.
very well written and presented history of the town where the capital of Kentucky is located. Informative, very interesting and well designed.
Lots of history here - very interesting and some great displays. I liked the old flag on the second floor.
Just across the street and train tracks is a little known hidden treasure, the Capital City Museum. For just a donation you can start on the ground floor and work your way up or vice versa. I love the information on famous people who have come from our little town over the years. I even remember my younger brother attending school with Johnny Depp. There is a large display of the political history of the Capital City. It is not a museum for small children, but is of great interest for anyone who wants to know more about the history of the city. It's also a great place to sign up for a walking tour of the town, guided by a historical character from the past. Check it out.
Nice small museum that used to be the local pharmacy owned by the Gayle family. No signs of the old business remain. We went here because the KY History Museums across the street were closed the day we were in Frankfort. The Gayles also owned a haberdasher, and a company that made fishing reels -- just some local color. The museum has a lot of interesting local history, photographs, and displays showing how this town developed. This could be done in half an hour, or a couple of hours if you want to read all of the signage. Admission is free. There is an old train depot next to the parking lot which now houses several businesses. If this review is helpful then please indicate so below.
