Georgetown lake is scenic...lots of eagles & hungry trout. Phillipsburg is a shortdrive away for anything needed in town. Piney campground was very comfy & the host was doing a great job...boat launch @ campground made it easy to get on the water.
We stayed at the Piney Campground with a slot right on the lake, it was absolutley gorgeous! We only stayed for one night but wished we could have stayed longer! The campground hosts were so sweet and very attentive if you need them, but not intrusive at all. Hope to come back someday!
Just beautiful any time of year, recreation sports and just sightseeing, one of the best places. Of course, I live nearby.
Georgetown Lake is a very lovely place whether you like lakes or mountains. I stated at the Seven Gables. The room was nice, but internet iffy. Didn't eat in the bar/cafe. Went to Philipsburg; great drive and fun town.
Trophy rainbow & brook trout and kokanee salmon. Or so it is said. A fairly shallow lake, it is never the less beautiful and in a lovely part of the country. The Pine Beetle had devastated the surrounding forests and the lake is surrounded by vacation homes. Still hauntingly beautiful.
This beautiful man made lake is just west of Anaconda, and offers fishing, boating, camping, hiking, and wildlife galore. Fun recreation winter and summer.
Stayed at Fairmont Hot Springs and took a drive up to Georgetown lake just to take a look. Very beautiful mountain lake with lot's of fishing boats. Looks like trolling is the way to go at this lake. Great place to visit and have a nice picnic if you have a little time.
A lovely, large lake with very few boats on it. We had a wonderful kayak.
This lake has top fishing for trout. You can camp and boat in this large high mountain lake. Great scenery and wildlife!
Growing up here as a kid we used to fish and play at the lake all the time. NOW it's all been bought up and they are hardly any area's that are open to the public which is disappointing. But what can you do. It is a pretty area though. Just disappointing because I knew how it was.
Take the drive around the perimeter - you'll see moose and beautiful lake/mountain scenary.
We went to Georgetown Lake bc my bfs family has a house on it and we loved it there!! The snow was beautiful and we got to ice fish on Georgetown Lake!! It was so much fun I got to drill my own hole with the ogger!! We got tons of rainbow trout and cleaned them ourselves! The next day we went snowboarding on the Mnt. and it was so much fun! Not crowded not expensive at all it was just perfect we are looking forward to many more years of snowboarding here!
The ride to get there...wonderful! The lake itself was and is very busy during summer as any lake, but it gives you the sense you can escape just by getting out of the car practically anywhere. Make sure you stop at all the little outlets they post along the way. We got out and the water was so clear you could see the fish had teeth and were there to spawn at the time. There are so many roads you can turn down and actually see how the other half lives, weather simplistic or luxurious. There is a place called 7 gables,so worth the stop for food and a beer. Lots of picnic benches along different routes where you can picnic, cool down with a quick swim without being hassled or bothered. Views are incredible from just about everywhere. Be aware there are bear in the area as we saw their "marks". Nothing a can of bear spray from a local shop (many) in local towns all around the area. Didn't have to use it, but you never know. :)
