I've been there before and they have splendid exhibits. It is not far from the La Quinta Motel. Their special exhibits change, but they still feature some military items.

Starting to accumulate quite a compilation of great falls artifacts, papers, etc. The last most recent DVD's on the Smelter and our personal friend Walter Breuning were treasures to be sure. A stop here is mandatory for those interested in the city

The friendly, helpful staff welcomed us to the museum and clearly oriented us to what was there. The museum specializes in local history and also has interesting displays of arrowheads, military uniforms of local people, and other topics related to the area. Their shop has a wide selection of books on local topics. It is free, but donations are welcome.Spending an hour or two there seems just right.

We had a few questions about stuff we had seen on the River's Edge Trail. The staff member we first spoke to couldn't help so found someone who else .

In addition to the exhibits, the museum has a wonderful gift shop. Huge collection of books for sale, as well as pottery, jewelry and toys. Don't miss!!

This small museum is not well known even by the locals. It is run by the Cascade County Historical Society and has exhibits and information about life in Central Montana over the last 150 years or so. The exhibits are very interesting both to adults and to children, although many items are not protected so children must be watched carefully. There are Native American artifacts, early settler artifacts and a temporary exhibit I saw was devoted to American military uniforms and a history of each. Uniforms and/or memorabilia from the Spanish American War to Afghanistan were represented. Don't miss the small exhibit on the second floor of the Hutterite populations in Montana. You can spend a little time or a lot of time here, depending on your purpose. If you are lucky, they may be having a musical exhibit (ticket required, $25 well worth it) for the community in the Ozark Club. I went to the "Swing" night with the New Harold Nichols Big Band. Director Bud Nichols does a concert here every year and it relives the swing era with old music and new. It was great fun dancing even though my skills are less than remarkable.Don't miss this small museum when you come to Great Falls. It doesn't get the press of the C. M. Russell Museum or the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, but it fills in the subject matter of how Central Montana has grown and developed.
