This museum includes interactive and authentic displays like an operative telegraph machine with a typing and receiving end; "Immersion Galleries" where visitors can see and touch and play with everything, feeling like they've stepped into a different time period; a simulated bike ride down the Washington Heritage Trail using a projector and stationary bikes; and fun bios of real people from the area who were involved with the railroad, to name only a few attractions. The dedicated and excited docents, mostly teenagers who love history, lead visitors through each of the areas, allowing plenty of time to explore. The tour even includes a trip up to the enclosed observatory bridge over the railroad tracks where kids might even get the chance to watch a train pass beneath them. This is, by far, the most intuitive museum I have ever visited. It caters to every age category and engages visitors for active learning. This is a must-visit!

Wow, very impressed to say the least! I think its only open for a few days a week for the public but would be a great place for a field trip! They can do private tours throughout the day! Especially to learn about the local history! WIll definitely keep you engaged for 2 solid hours to learn history, all about trains, workers on the trains, etc. The tours guides were great!

This is an exceptionally interesting, clever and engaging museum for kids as well as adults. Interactive depictions of regional history carries a facinating railroad flavor. Our grandson especially loved the tunnel section and the 3d bike ride thru Martinsburg and the Eastern Panhandle.

This probably would be fun, but it is rarely open. When it is open, it is way too expensive for local families like ours to enjoy :(
