This is amazing place. Its so peaceful. It's great for solo couples and family. I can't say one bad thing about this place. Anyone in the area that has the chance to go should definitely go and check it out.
Great place to see nature. It is not over-run with tourists and other people. They have boat tour operators, but you can often see roseate spoonbills and alligators from the road. Nice walking trail around lake
If you're ever in the area, be sure to stop in at Lake Martin. This beautiful wildlife preserve is home to many native animals, birds, and reptiles. We saw alligators in the water less than 10 feet from the bank and found alligator tracks in the mud on the trail. Be sure to go to the boardwalk at the South end of the lake. We captured some great photos, as well as the wharf on the trail towards the North end. Wear comfortable shoes and watch for critters!
Very beautiful lake. You usually see alligators as you drive by the lake. And the birds are breathtaking during the nesting season.
The Nature Conservancy has again saved a beautiful portion of the U.S.A. with its Cypress Island Preserve at Lake Martin Louisiana (near Breaux Bridge). Although the visitor center was not open, we enjoyed a walk on the dike trail, soaking up the beauty of the cypress trees and the dark and clear waters of the swamp, listening to the birds, seeing Louisiana at its finest. The short boardwalk trail is also a tranquil place. Too cold for gators and snakes, but delightful for enjoying nature at its finest.
Lake Martin is one of the most favored settings for photographers filming birds and animals in their natural environs. It is close to Lafayette and well worth the time to visit. All self guided.
The boating experience in this area is so interesting as the waterways of the Bayou are worth u derstanding and the Lake is all part of the system.
Nature at its best. Sign up with Cajun Swamp Tours to really appreciate it! Butch will show you all the nature which is in this lake and the swamps he grew up in.
Explored the Swamplands in the Cajun Country and the Lake Martin area the one was of most interest. We took a boat out at sunset, the light was subdued and beautiful, the Cypress trees were magnificent, and the many birds and alligators were abundant.
I love the views and the birds and how close I got to a couple alligators in the wild and hated the mosquitoes.
Lake Martin has a nice little store, boat docks, wildlife, beautiful cypress and tupelo trees. It is a beautiful, relaxing place to visit. Turn on your gps because there are lots of turns to get to it.
great experience.2 hours of magic. Very professional helmsman. We did a long 2 hours tour thru all different palces of the lake.5pm is a great departure time as you can admire sunset.Nothing I disliked!
We have been on a Gulf Coast tour for three weeks and this tour was the highlight. Unbelievably beautiful, lots of wildlife and Butch from Cajun Country Swamp Tours was the best. I am so impressed with Cajun Country tours, they really know about the flora and fauna and they share their knowledge freely without talking the entire time. We had many alligator spottings and some close up and personal photo ops. With the gators, birds and turtles Butch knew just where to look and how to approach so they didn't get scared off, the tour was over two hours long and was only $20.00 best $20.00 I have ever spent!
Early evening is the very bedtime to go as all the birds are coming home to roost. The tour was very educational and the feeling of peace will stay with us forever
Probably the best swamp tour we during our stay in Louisiana. The place is sanctuary for birds and gators and you can see lots of them. The guide was nice and informative.
