The house itself is an excellent representation of the Italianate style. The craftsmanship done by hired slaves is fantastic. Using hand tools these true artisans built window frames. doors, and decorative works that are still straight and true. The cupola was designed to improve air flow through the house on hot days. Even when there wasn't any breeze, the rising heat pulled air through the house. We visited the house the first of the year when the house and contents were "transferred" from the State of Alabama to a private organization. We were thus able to see much of the inventory of the house on display. This "House on the Hill" is a must stop on any tour of Eufaula. There is a modest charge. I just hope you get the same tour guide as we did. His knowledge of the house and its history made its prior tenants come alive.

Really enjoyed the tour. Our tour guide Brian was very knowledgeable about the home right down to the smallest detail. Highly recommend.

Beautiful old mansion, perfectly preserved. Interesting and engaging tour guide. It is a beautiful, stately mansion with the original furnishings, floor to ceiling windows, amazing wall and ceiling decor. If you love details, you will love this place.Iif you are looking for Scarlett O'Hara's Tara, keep looking.

Incredible restoration! We have been visiting this house for nearly 30 years as they restored it. It is well worth seeing.

It was beautiful! Hope to return, with my older children, to see this incredible home as well as the historic homes tour!

This mansion is indeed open on weekends (as of May 2014) and says they are going to get their website updated to reflect that. $5 entry fee. Not a lot of signage and it's deep in a residential area; you park either in the back of the house or on the side under a tree. The docent had so much information and gave a wonderful presentation about the house as it originally was and how it was used up until the 1970's. Steps to the attic are steep and narrow but it's really interesting to see the cupola. No handicapped access....you have to climb steps to get into the house and up to the 2nd and 3rd floors. The air conditioning was working very well the day I was there!

Guided tours worth the small fee. Home is three stories of Eufaula history and getting to actually go into a Widow's Walk was amazing.

I have been a hostess at Fendall Hall for the annual Eufaula Pilgrimage several years. The frescoes in the entry hall are fascinating. Fendall Hall has a rich history; it's like stepping back in time. Great place to see how people lived "back then".

The gentleman tour guide wove an interesting story about the historic house and the area. He took you back to the time when just about all commerce occurred by water. The house itself has some well preserved, amazing wall and ceiling painting and plaster scroll work.

The hall was rich with history and worth the stop and see. Since we saw it during the Eufaula Pilgrimage we got to meet a lot of the local people who added to the rich history of the hall.

Went to Fendall Hall for a reception. Went back again the next day! Beautiful home to explore with very nice grounds. Cupola on top a treat.

It is an outstanding example of Italian architecture. Even has Italian painting on the walls inside. It has been covered by world known photographers. A must see in Eufaula,Al

I visited Fendall Hall as part of the Eufaula Pilgrimage. Beautiful candlelight house tour. This home is pretty spectacular - granite floors, handpainted murals in the front hall. One unique aspect of this home is that you can climb the stairs past the second floor to the cupola. Pretty view. It was interesting to see how these old homes used air vents to keep cool by pushing the hot air up to the cupola. Wish visitors could go out to the widow's walk too!
