kj's raven's roost

The Raven's Roost was formerly known as A Bed Of Roses and it housed an art gallery, youth hostel and my home for eight years. You are doing a great job it appears and I hope that you are happy. Little sad to see my former home as a bar but it looks great.

In September 2007, my husband and I spent a day in Ketchikan, Alaska as one of our cruise ports. After taking a great tour and walking around the town, we thought it would be fun to have a few beers and hoped to find a local bar that had a pinball game since we are avid pinball players. We asked people around the town and nobody really knew where to find one. We stopped in each bar we saw to check. We finally stopped at Annabelle's Chowder House to have a drink at their bar even though there was not a pinball game to be found. There was a funny young guy sitting next to me who appeared to have already had a few. We asked him if he knew of any bars with pinball and he immediately said "KJ's has pinball! I'll take you there, it's only a few minutes walk." We finished our drinks and started off down the road. We quickly reached KJ's Raven's Roost and they did, indeed, have two pinball machines - a Nascar and an Attack From Mars. We were very happy and spent the rest of the afternoon playing pinball and drinking beer. KJ's has an upstairs that includes pool tables, foosball and video games. They have a full bar in the downstairs area and appear to host some events from the pictures on the walls. I chatted with the bartender and he told me that they also collect money for local children's charities in different ways. They sell some items, including a bumper sticker that says "Don't Drive Drunk - It's Really, Really Stupid" and they have a net that people can throw money up into to donate to their children's fund.Overall, if you're looking for a place to hang out with the Ketchikan locals, have a beer and be entertained, this is an excellent place to go. Spending the afternoon there was a lot fun and helped make our Ketchikan experience the best of all of our Cruise's ports of call.
