Must have one of the best views of any library anywhere! Free wifi, public access computers. Big selection of Inde films.
This is a very beautiful bldg but so many of the books are old and it doesn't seem updated at all on a lot of newer books
We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful library. The librarians are always such a big help and love the free computer help twice a month.
A big library with free internet access. It's a little out of the main part of town but has a lot of books on the history of the area.
Is a great building that is very large! You get free access to the computers but with a limited time. It's very clean, and it looks definitely new. If you need to do any research near homer, this is the sure place to go!
Beautiful building! Free wifi. Lots of room for working, reading or just relaxing! Staff is overly efficient!
The Homer Public Library offers so much for both residents and visitors alike. Its huge windows, soaring ceilings, cozy nooks, and open reading area with comfy chairs & big fireplace make the library an enjoyable place for either quick or extended visits. The Children's Library has a good collection of reading materials for kinders, and a big carpeted area plus appropriately-sized tables and chairs that are used for a wide variety of delightful activities (eg, reading sessions, art classes, etc.). There is even a good collection of Russian language books and DVDs (quite unique). The free wifi is fast, and desktop PCs are available for checking emails, etc. Enjoy!
Friendly library with beautiful building. Open 6 days a week, but not many evenings so harder to access if you have a 9-5 job or work weekends...
I am in Homer for a month and I stopped by the library to get a library card. They were so helpful and gave me a lot of information about using the library. They have comfortable seating, lots of periodicals, independent study rooms, and wifi. My rental doesn't have wifi so I was happy to be able to get connected at the library.
This is a library. If that's why you're reading, you can stop now. However, there is more to it!Clean, new, and bright, this building is a gem. Great librarian staff, and a wonderful place to get books, read, and find public internet access.Be sure to inquire about events--especially the great opportunities for youth.
I needed to print an itinerary for my wife's flight home to get luggage checked. I was able to do it here with free computer access and pay-by-the-page to print things. I didn't have a printer with my laptop where the reservation was made. Homer library was a God-send.
It's a great stop for people traveling in the summer. Has all the tools you need for researching, printing, connecting to wi-fi, and just reading and relaxing. Very openly and has great big wide windows so you still feel the beauty of Homer. One thing I ddin't like are the study/reading cubes/sections by the huge windows across the high-top study tables. I didn't like them because the way it was configured allowed people sitting behind you to look directly behind you which can be a distraction.
The Homer Public Library is a wonderful public facility available to both residents and visitors. Works by local artists decorate the inside and outside, and there is a special reading area complete with a fireplace, quiet nooks with tables to do your work, plenty of computers to get access to the Internet, individual rooms with their own doors for folks to meet, and a very nice (and separate) children's area with beanbags, etc. for the youngsters. The Library also has a unique, large collection of books and DVD's in the Russian language (I've not found this anywhere else in Alaska!). Wonderful architecture for a public building too (soaring ceilings, huge windows, etc.)!
I needed to send an email or two and the staff was terrific and friendly! I was made to feel at home immediately!!!!! good resource for the traveler.
This library was new in 2006 and is clean and spacious. There is an enclosed children's area with regular story times, 16 free public internet stations, current magazines and newspapers, small meeting rooms for groups, and numerous places to use your own laptop with free wifi. You must have a library card to check books out, but there is a large and continuous book sale if you are just passing through and need something to read. The staff is great!
