Russian Bishop's House离路口其实很近,没开门,只能做外部观光旁边就是个玫瑰花园,很精致的小屋

Interesting walk through with rooms preserved and furniture etc displayed as it would have been originally with lots of pictures and signs to read about the history. All added to the interest of Sitka as a cruise port. The other ports were so touristy this one was a welcome change.

Lots of Russian history here. The exhibits have been done with great thought and are laid out nicely. We actually spent more time here than originally planned. Rangers here are friendly.

A real education of the Russian history of Sitka. Be sure and take the guided tour. So much history. Don't forget to pet the sea otter pelt :-)

Located on one of the main streets in Sitka (and walking distance from the cruise port), the Russian Bishop's House gives visitors an inside look into the history of the area. To tour the bottom floor of the house is free, but there is a small fee to go upstairs where it is set up as a house from the 1800s. We only toured the downstairs. There are various artifacts from the time period when Russia still controlled the area. They also offer a video about the history of the time. Informative if you have the time to go.

We stopped here as part of our visit while on the Amsterdam cruise ship and was glad we did. Built in 1842 by the Russian American Company as a residence for the bishop of the Orthodox church. It is the oldest Russian intact building in Sitka. Was later converted into an orphanage!Free entry into this great museum. They have wonderful exhibits and many artifacts for you to enjoy. You can go on upstairs for a narrated tour by the Park Ranger for a small $2 fee.The Bishop's House is an easy walk from the port...across the street. Don't miss this place and see some of Sitka's history.

The Russian Bishop's House is a National Monument and worth touring. A Park Ranger conducts the tours and does an outstanding job. The cost is cheap and a great opportunity to learn something about this quaint little town.

This would have received a "4" except for the excellent tour guide from Parks who was incredibly knowledgeable about not only the Russian Bishop's House but all the history from that time period. It was a fascinating place to visit and definitely an important part of the history from this region.

The Russian Bishop's House is a good way to get a glimpse into the past when Sitka was the capital of Russian Alaska. There is even some original wood left and wall space where children scribbled as well as original books and documents preserved behind glass. Learn about the significance of devil's club plant. Allow a couple of hours to thoroughly tour through the house. It is an essential part of the history of Sitka.

but you can miss it. It gives a bit of history of the place and has cut away walls so you can see how things were built back then.

Close to the one traffic light is the Russian Bishop's house. The first floor is a free museum. The upper floor costs money. I wasn't a fan of how the museum video presented the Tlingit/Russian relationship. There was a passage that was, to wit: Boy it's a great thing we Russians brought that small pox plague that killed 50% of the Tlingit. It made them so much easier to convert after we killed half of them." Gag me.

This is great museum for understanding the history of the Russian presence in Sitka. The chapel was particularly beautiful.

Sitka was the first stop on our Alaska visit and the main reason for going there was to learn a little about the Russian history in the area. This House is run by the NPS and for a nominal fee we took a guided tour. We were the only ones there. It was a great introduction to the area. Learned a lot about the Russians and their influence. If you've seen other historical houses, this isn't overwhelming, but if you want to experience some history which you probably haven't been exposed to in the lower 48, definitely stop in.

Bit of a history fan and very interesting innovations for heating. Guide spoke clearly and slowly so we heard every bit of info.
