Nice little garden spot in the city, farmers market on Sundays. Downtown is short on unique spots. South of Main is really growing and drawing more people to visit.

We live in the neighborhood and love walking our dogs to the garden. We also attend events there frequently and participate in the Sunday morning farmers markets. We always take our out-of-state visitors there – it reminds me of life in my old neighborhood in California.The Bernice Garden is a source of pride for our community – it's visionary and unusual and draws people to the neighborhood. We can't thank our SoMa patron saint enough for her generosity in bringing new life to a former eyesore. Now it's even becoming a popular venue for weddings and other important events. Just goes to show what vision and beauty can bring …

The results of the vision of one generous civic patron who envisioned a sculpture garden in a depressed stretch of Main Street. It has catapulted into a lively section of town, with a cornbread festival, a bakery, green store and new Root Cafe nearby. Definitely worth a visit.
