the Candlelight tour of the old ordinary gives a good idea of what it is like to survive a New England winter. Tremendous need for wood, the warmth of the kitchen, preserves, pies, hard cider, and hard times. The daylight tours are mostly a spring or summer event - be sure to check the website before showing up!

hard to find this place. and then to find that they aren't open til after noon... was disappointed to be sure..
