There are several different walks at this recreation area. You can walk all around the lake. The path on one side of the lake is a wide flat dirt road and the other side is more a dirt curved path though the woods. On the other side of the road there are two other fairly flat paths. One on each side of the stream. There is also a picnic area, two group covered areas and a large field. Similar to other parks in that respect.
During my teen years (some 40 years ago!) I was lucky to live close enough to "Westville" to bike there in a few minutes. My friends & I spent many days here, biking & hiking what back then were nothing but footpaths, I think we actually created some of those trails! I have very special memories of Westville. My family still goes there, & it is nice to see that they keep improving the area. We've used the pavilions for larger family events, take our dog for walks, even still the occasional cookout at one of the grills. It's nice just to go sit and relax in the beautiful nature. In winter it is great for sledding on one big gentle hill, or cross country skiing & snowshoeing. A little bit of Heaven tucked away; and no admission fees!!
long and short, well mapped trails.YOu could hike a loop that takes 30 min or some that take hours and climb you to a mountain top with spectacular views!Pleasant and friendly staff. Picnic tables
Great are for hiking, walking your dogs and also has picnic tables for your special picnic outing for the day. Fields for playing with your children, flying kites on a windy day and fishing is possible if that's your passion. Plan to take Westville in on a summer day or a nice fall day or a winter walk with your snow shoes!
I enjoy going here early in am for healthwalk.I see a range of animals from beavers blue herons chipmunks birds etc.
Amazingly beautiful and well maintained place with a river right in middle. Perfect place to go with family for a picnic, make sure to carry your own trash bag as there are trash cans on the property. My 5 yr old enjoyed running and rolling down the gentle hills. Very calm and serene.
This is a perfect little natural park. It is full of walkers in the afternoons (dogs on leash! but still it is nice) on rock-sanded good paths that wind in and out of woods next to the Quabog river (fishable) and across a real little marsh with bluebird boxes. It has a good soccer field and good pavilons for family parties up on the hill. If you like to practice on nice wild landscapes, this is a good place to draw or paint.
