Had to stay in Waltham for a week, and took the opportunity to visit the park whenever I could. Enjoyed the view (to downtown Boston) and even saw deers. Had some envy for the people living nearby...
Great for walks or jogging when in the vicinity; trails are a obscured by fallen leaves in the fall; the maps and Google maps don't tell the half of it! Get a map from the hotel or a friend. I went out for 4 miles and did 6.8.
A pretty vast park in the midst of Waltham. Go there early in the fall morning to catch spectacular views of downtown Boston in the mist. A photographer's classic.
We stopped here with the recommendation of hotel staff. We had 3 hours before our appointment and wanted something close and fun to do with the kids. We arrived about 10am.We drove to the top of the park, where we passed several small pavilions (a nice place to stop for lunch?). At the top there were some nice views of the Boston Skyline, which is about 15 miles away. After a very brief stop at the top, we went back down to where the kids saw the playscape. We stayed about 45 minutes total. We saw 4 people walking dogs or running, and another Mom/daughter who joined us at the play area. Everyone was friendly. There was minor litter and use/abuse throughout the park, but for our short visit everything seemed fine. If we find ourselves in the area again, we would plan a longer visit.
Great for picnics, hikes and children's summer camps/walk to the top and enjoy awesome views of the city and fabulous sunsets (or may drive if you prefer!!)(
There is a pretty neat view of Boston from the the Observatory at the top of Prospect hill. Interesting place to picnic.
This was challenging depending on which trail you took. There were very scenic views and lots of picnicing areas
I found this park and trail by looking at google maps, then getting verification as to it's "runability" by asking at our hotel reception. Wow...it might have been a great run (just a four mile loop out and back from our nearby hotel), but it was hot, so we decided to walk instead. The park is small, well maintained...a long, winding, and VERY steep paved road to the top. It was an energizing walk, uphill through the woods, with various narrow dirt trails crisscrossing all along the way. This was a perfect little boost before we got back on the road for the rest of our trip.
