This little museum at the end of the boardwalk is a great place to visit. It not only has a cute little gift store, but it has a few fish, seahorses that the kids will love to see. It has sand from all over the world in a showcase, which is very interesting. It has tons of memorabilia of Ocean City, past and present. The upstairs boasts many, many, interesting artifacts too. For the modest entry fee, it is well worth it. Great place to cool off . It is said that it is haunted too. There is a documentary on how they saved many ships at sea.
Recently we took our grandson for a visit. He is 14 and enjoyed it a lot. How do I know this? He is normally quiet and here he asked a lot of questions as we toured the facility. He was particularly interested in the displays and later spent quite a bit of time telling his mother about the place. I was really surprised he enjoyed it so much.
We purchased some small trinkets from the gift shop and there is a lot of interesting info on the OC life guards, worth a walk to the end of the boardwalk to see.
Great pit stop for kids. Good look out station over the inlet. Interesting learning spot amidst other games and rides.
We went with my family and it was really a very interesting exhibit.Hands on items to look at and the kids really liked it
I love this place, been here a few times and for a small museum it is awesome. Highly recommend visiting this.
Use the dollar off coupons located in one of the beach propaganda magazines. Small but has allot of information that is well organized. 30 minutes tops to tour.
It was amazing to see the interesting things that have been collected. Good for young and old alike.
This place is such a great gem. I think the boardwalk just outside their door overshadows this place. The exhibits are terrific, the history of the Life Saving Service is fascinating and they offer greatprograms in the summer for all ages. It's worth a stop for sure.
The museum was facinating. In additio to everything you can learn there you get to take a stroll through history. One recommendation. When you on the second floor dont be suprised if the doll starts laughing on her own
My family used the coupon in the hotel book and 4 adults and 1 child got in for $6.00. The scavenger hunt was great! It is educational for all ages. Many hands on items you can touch and remember when...Childrens' room is great! If you answer all the scavenger questions-you get a prize.
This museum is housed in the 1891 Life Saving Service station near the inlet parking at the end of the boardwalk. A small entrance fee. A lot of informative exhibits about the LSS, but even more about the early days and history of Ocean City itself. Exhibits are well done and generally in well maintained condition. There is a kids room upstairs with activities for ages 3-10. A collection of 100's different sands from all over the world - which sounds a little boring until you see the huge differences in them and range of the collection. Worth the price of admission and then some.
This tiny museum in an old house is full of nooks and crannies with displays. videos, and artifacts. The most interesting exhibit was the sand samples from around the world.
This is rather small museum but it contains a wealth of information about the area. The staff are very knowledgeable. You will have a new appreciation for the hard work and heroics of the life savers from the past .
Before there was the Coast Guard, there was the U.S. Life Saving Service. This quaint museum explores the people who manned the life-saving stations before 1915. Stories are informative of how the rescues were made under such difficult conditions. Enjoyed reading about how the museum nearly closed years ago but was given new life. Museum also features the history of Ocean City and the people who were influential in its growth. Check out the local coupon book to get a $1 off the admission price, which is already very reasonable.
