62 years on after the construction of the castle and it still looks ominous in its strength. The architecture is fascinating. It was constructed in 1952, coming through a cold reality that the purpose for which it was built had fizzled out. However its a breathtaking place the lovely landscaped huge garden is well kept and the fresh air just makes the place heavenly. what amazed me is how the fully furnished with a children’s room, a master bedroom for him and his wife, numerous other rooms, confinements, alleyways, barricades, cloistered venues and artistic lacunas still looks good even after the many years, indeed the place is well taken care of and the history is well narrated. The guard who took us through was eloquent, well composed and answered each and every question we asked without hesitation. The llamas in the field makes the place even more interesting and we could not hesitate pause for a photo with the calm animals.Lords egerton castle is just a great place to unwind and also if you are looking for a picnic place with your family its the best place.

This is one of the few places in Kenya, which has a rich history due to the origin of the place.Situated in a very green area with lots of freshness away from the city of Nairobi. Its amazing how Lord Egerton was build in the 18's and still stands firm and looks new.Its amazing love story that led to the construction of the Italian finish castle makes it a very beautiful scenery. The land scape is just wow and you can have a nice time with loved ones.Since it offers a quite and serene place. Its a nice getaway and the staff are just amazing.

If you are in thee area and working with Egerton University, then it is a very worthwhile excursion. Nice grounds and a good background for the university.

The Castle still stands strong and mighty with good views from all quarters and especially the roof.... the grounds and large and great for outdoor events and relaxation..... Down part was the old mzee who used to work for the Lord Egerton is no longer there to tell the raw story, the house has seen its days with loads of infrastructure moved out or in poor shape but you can still see the grandeur of a Castle built many years back...... great architecture

It was a second time at the castle and the kids loved it.we had gone there with a group of friends for the madaraka day celebrations. The grounds are great for a retreat and spacious enough we made our own meals there and had real fun.The staff are friendly and really helpful and the rates are affordable

I've been there twice. First time the guide was a former hand of the owner. Second time it was a newbie who gave a completely different angle. All in all the house seems to carry a story of its own

This is one moment of our life that i can always treasure. I and my three sisters had gone to nakuru to celebrated our much loved and spoilt brothers birthday on the 27th april 2013. All we had in our heart was to have fun and be merry. But no plan how? The universe supplied our heart wishes. We were to go to the lake but the hire of the car did not come through. So we decided to have a picnic anywhere. The castle was unheard of and we were there, we went through the tour and fell in love with the surrounding, garden, lords love stroy and his passion for life. we were so happy that for the whole weekend we talked about him and his love. We have planned to go back soon.thank you for the best time of our life.

I visited Lord Egerton Castle with my family and I found the history behind it very interesting. It is situated on Ngata Farm, in Nakuru District, some 14 kilometers from Nakuru town. The most interesting part is the history behind this castle and the firm stand that Lord Egerton had. Lord Egerton shunned and hated women all his life. He hated chicken and dogs and did not keep them in his compound though he ate chicken meat and eggs. This is because the woman who spurned his proposal said the six bed roomed house the Lord lived in – before completion of the castle was small as a chicken coop, bird nest or a dog kennel. you could carry packed lunch and eat as you relax in the well kept compound. it is also used for corporate functions such as office parties, cocktails, picnics, and weddings.

We visited Egerton Castle while staying at Kembu. It is currently owned and managed by the Egerton University. The place has a very interesting history and is also nice to visit. It is a copy of a castle in England built to impress a lady. After 60 years of vandalism and neglect it is currently being kept and plans are made for restoration, however the funding is not in place. There is a stiff entrance fee for non-residents, 10 usd, ten times the amount for residents. The 10 dollars is not worth it, but you can negotiate the entrance fee, then it's an interesting visit..

Das Castle ist ein muß, wenn man in Nakuru ist. Eine sehr gepfelgte Anlage und der Führer ist sehr hilfreich.
