take a ride on the kids boat! You cannot miss this experience. We hung out with him the whole day, he took us up and down the beaches, including starfish beach. A million starfish on the bottom, beautiful!

After spending several days in Boquette - without a lot of sun - Boca del drago was a welcome change. We loved the walk along the coast to get to the starfish beach. We were there on a Sunday so there was a lot of police walking the beach watching the college age groups - apparently they do this to keep the drinking and craziness under control. We hired a taxi for the round trip for $35 which was worth the money. He gets paid on the return trip so we had no worries he would be waiting for us at the designated time. It also gave us a chance to talk to the driver which added so much to the drive. There is plenty of shade and places to lay out at the far end of the beach. We had a wonderful lunch on the beach as well.

We took the public bus from the main park in town. It was $2.50 each and pretty long bus ride. We had considered biking the day before. I am glad we didn't. It would have been very difficult on beach bikes and a long ways. They drop you off at the end of a sandy road. You walk thru someone's property (follow the path) to the water. There you will find a path along the beach and they the jungle. Keep walking. It is about 20min. Alternatively there are shuttle boats that show up where the bus drops off. We didn't know but we're happy to get some exercise. You will know you are there when you hit about 8 bars and restaurants. We had excellent pineapple piña coladas, lobster meat and lobster tacos. The water is very clear. Nice way to float way the day. There are lounge chairs for $5 or you can just lay in the shallow beach.

This beautiful beach is really great on a sunny day! The water is incredibly calm and clear here, it felt like a swimming pool but with fish and starfish! We wished we brought snorkeling gear. When we went, we actually saw a decent number of starfish (around 15 in just the main area). Some may say that the beach used to have so many more--while this may be true and unfortunate if so, we still appreciated our visit very much. We did stop someone from taking a starfish out of the water(which kills it) so continued awareness for the marine life is really important to conserve this lovely beach. As a last note, we got there and back by taking a small bus from the main park in bocas (the ones that leave when they fill up), and it was $2.50 each way. When we arrived at boca del drago, we walked down the path (15-20 min) to starfish beach. On our way back, we water taxied for $1.50 a person.

From the second we arrived on Bocas, we can't take two steps without someone offering to shuttle us to this beach. The shuttle drops you off at a restaurant/resort and you quickly see that it's not a place you can stay at. From there, you have to walk a good 20 minutes through the jungle to the starfish beach (or take a boat) and the beach is lined by one bar/restaurant after another, where you have to pay or buy something to be allowed to sit on their chairs. The beach itself is far from spectacular. The shuttle charged $5 for a round trip, but of course when we showed up for our designated departure time, it was another shuttle in its place, which charged us another $5 to return to town.Overall Bocas has been a huge letdown.

Smelly and crowed seems that this place has lost what it could of being. But the locals and tourists have kept this place is just sad.Restaurants are expensive and don't offer the quality that you could expect. Hotels are expensive for what they offer.I'm sorry to not having the chance of promoting this place as the paradise that it was once. But there is just the truth to say and this is not a place worth going until they apply some policies to recover it.Meanwhile, go somewhere else. :(

Starfish beach used to be a pristine, secluded beach that you walked to from Bocas del Drago. The starfish used to be plentiful and fun to look at, but the place had the feeling of a nature preserve. Now it is a slum, jammed full of shoddily constructed bars, made from poles with cheap blue plastic tarp roofs, crappy bathrooms for which the operators charge a buck to pollute the ocean, over priced drinks, ugly plastic tables and chairs everywhere, and ponga boats towing tourists on cheap inflatables up and down the water. It is not just ugly, It has literally been destroyed. Do yourself and the island a favor and stay away, you're not missing anything. For sure not the starfish that used to be so plentiful here.

The first time I visited Bocas del Drago or starfish beach was 8 years ago. At that time, there were only a handful of tourists who would go there and they were respectful of the natural wonders of the beach. Eight years later what we find in our latest visit is that the beach is destroyed by human activity and commercialism. The make a buck of tourism by the locals and the foreign tourists destroyed the beauty that was Bocas del Drago. The beauty that was seeing thousands of starfish in the shallow waters no longer exist. I remember the entire beach was filed with these magnificent creatures. Now eight years later, not one single starfish was found, unfortunately they have all died due to tourism and human activity. Tourists taking out one or several starfish to take photos with them on the sand. Killed them all, a starfish once taken out of the water dies and that is what tourism has done to what was a beautiful place on Earth. I guess money meant more than preserving natural life, and what made money for the locals is no longer exist, what a shame…The one star I give is for the destruction of Bocas del Drago, a natural wonder destroyed with tourims activity.

Everytime we went to Bocas we visited Bocas del Drago - Playa de las Estrellas (Starfish Beach) but this time, what used to be the most beautiful beach i've known was just a shadow of it. The mile that comprehend from Bocas del Drago to Playa de las Estrellas the level of the sea have increase, so the white sand beach to lie down and rest is gone (i don't know if it has to be with the tides, but i've been there many times for long hours and never see it as this). The sandy part that rest of the beach that was a quiet place to enjoy the beach, sun and nature is now take by many local kiosks trying to sell food and beverages. If you think that is the worst part of this tale...is not. The starfish are gone! This beach was crowded with this amazing animals that make this place so charming, but they are also so fragile and can't survive a minute outside the water, but the human being and their ignorance... now where there were dozens of them, i just saw ONE single starfish in all the way of Starfish beach. With this i'm not telling you "don't go" or "is an ugly beach", i'm just saying i liked the way it used to be. Maybe if you go you'll like it as i did the first time, but please, very please, if you go remember you are just a visitor and the starfish were there before you, so take care of them and don't take them outside the water.

We just stayed long enough to get a bite to eat, but it was yet another fun beach in Bocas del Toro!

This place was excellent for us. Have nice views. But you have to be ready for the mosquitos thera are a lot of them. The food was excellent. I ate fish with Patacones and Salad. My husban ate a Lobster with Salad, very nice food.Hihgly recommended

There many restaurant and "fondas" where you can get a menu suitable to budget. The food is excelente. There is a beach too, however, I'd rather to swim in Playa Estrella, nearby there!

Boat drivers await to whisk you away to Starfish Beach about a mile away. I prefer to walk. The beach views are nice, but chitres can get bad so bring plenty of bug repellent! This is more of a drop off point for starfish beach as the road ends here and the trail begins.

We were for a couple hours & it wasn't a highlight. Not much going on. Worth a walk along the coast but a few hours was enough.
