We went on a Saturday morning as part of an excursion with Thomson. The swim with the dolphins was great fun, the dolphins seemed very healthy and happy and were being rotated so it wasn't the same dolphins having to constantly entertain guests. You had about half an hour actually in the water with them and would've liked a little longer but it was worth the money still. They also had a shark encounter and string rays which I didn't take part in, the shark looked sedated but even so I still wouldn't have felt safe and was also a bit put off that it looked sedated. The cost for the photos is ridiculous - $16.50 per photo and they dont even print them, just put them on a CD so we bought two and they just put them on the same CD anyway. You're not allowed cameras in the dolphin area so you're only choice is to buy them if you want a photo.
I did the Ultimate swim with 2 dolphins, it was amazing! If you ask your resort travel person you should be able to get some discounts. The dolphins come together to push you out of the water into the air. I would suggest having someone take a video of you from the deck as they will charge you all of your money to get a crappy '90's camcorder video and $15 a pop for pictures. The stingray experience was also excellent!
My daughter loves dolphins so her and my husband took the ultimate swim experiance. They had a fabulous time and it was worth the money! I stayed on the deck and filmed and took photos of them swimming. You have to stay on the deck, which is a bit far, to make sure you buy photos and videos from them after.I have a good zoom, so it wasn't an issue.the photos they sell are extremely expensive and it takes forever to get your CD burned. We just took one picture for $16.50, as others mentioned, other packages run to 80/100 and moreBesides the Dolphins there is nothing to do! Go for the dolphins, enjoy, be prepared to pay a lot for the photos, but it is worth it.My daughter had a once in a lifetime experience
We checked at our hotel at three different vendors for the price of this trip and got three different prices. So, do look around. We ended up paying $45 for adults and $33 for children with 2 year old being free. The transportation took us two and from the Dolphin Cove it takes about 35 minutes. The place is very small and disappointing. They advertise a camel but the cost to ride the camel is $11 per person and the ride is very, very short. The dolphin event we took to lowest thing of just rub your hand over the top of the dolphin and the dolphin kiss. Make sure you wear swimwear. We were out their maybe, 15-20 minutes. The stingray they bring out one stingray and let you see and put your hands on it. The shark show is some guys dancing and singing and then they put a shark on their lap and that's it. They said this was a new shark and they were worried about being in the water too long with it. That's it. That's what you are paying for. Very disappointed for that amount of money.
Visited there through our resort had the ultimate dolphin experience which include double dorsal pull, superman launch, kisses petting top and bottom and dancing with.
We loved our experience with the dolphins, it was a very special place. As a scuba diver, I was so very happy to see that the dolphins love what they do and they were not being kept against their will. They could absolutely leave the enclosure by jumping a 2' fence to get out into the wild, if they wanted to leave. According to the trainers they have never had a dolphin leave. They are treated so well, cared for and feed with fish they have to import. We were also told that that the dolphins they have will live to over 60 years, way longer than they would if they were in the open ocean. In the ocean they would only live 30- 35 years. When we arrived the support staff went over the program with us, then escorted us down to the docks where we got into the water. We had purchased the two dolphin experience with our family, we had experienced a dolphin swim a nmber of years ago in Cuba so we kind of knew what to expect. I wanted to be pushed up out of the water and that required two dolphins. We also had a dorsel swim push which really showed how incredibly strong these mammals actually are. They danced for us, sang for us and kissed us on the cheek...we even got to give them a kiss goodbye. The trainers do a fantastic job with these amazing creatures. I love dolphins and I was not disappointed. They also have a stingray pool, which I did not participate in, I have swam with the stingrays several times in the open ocean. My husband did go into the pool and did not find it very exciting, it was one very small ray and it took forever to pass around. With that being said if you have never been up close to one you would probably enjoy this experience. On the property they also have a donkey, camel and 2 ostrich. Lovely to take picures of, but I was not interested in riding the one hump camel, so I don't know how much they were charging. They have a lovely gift shop on the property and this is where you go if you are interested in purchasing any photos or a video. We decided to purchase the photos and video for $120.00 which we split with our family members. We were very happy with the photos and video glad we made the purchase. We also really enjoyed the bus ride to and from the property the driver was very knowledgeable and shared with us interesting facts aong the way. I would highly recommend this experience.
First of beware of the bloke with the camel this is not free. Other than that an amazing experience. staff are fully knowledge on the dolphins.Dolphins are in no way held captive and could escape when ever they wish to. Well worth a visit
The actual dolphin encounter was WONDERFUL. The trainers (especially Shane!) are knowledgeable and clearly having a great time. The dolphins are amazing. The encounter was so wonderful that I was convinced to spend $120 on the video and photo package. DO NOT DO THIS. They took 25 minutes to burn the CD for me, and when I insisted on viewing it to ensure it was correct, I came to find that the photos were of another family! I would have left there with the wrong photos, and they did not care one bit. They tried to get me to wait another 20 minutes while they fixed it, but I refused and insisted on getting my money back. Great experience, but do not be swindled by this.
We loved it here, there are 3 different experiences, we chose the middle one (the swim) which includes swimming with the dolphins and belly ride and a kiss, whilst you are in the water you are with a trainer who is great and gives you lots of information about the dolphins, we also got to swim with a sting-ray but did not see the sharks as this was not included in the price, In all we had an amazing time, we have wanted to swim with dolphins for a long time and this did not disappoint.
We were a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teenagers) who spent $500 to partake in this experience, thinking we were not only getting an encounter with dolphins, but also snorkeling and kayaking (glass bottom boats). What we got was a wonderful dolphin encounter, a terrible shark show where there was no interaction whatsoever from us and an opportunity to touch a sting ray. They said the shark was not trained yet, so no encounter at all. Suffice it to say this was a disappointing experience for $500.
located a few miles before the resort of Negril, this was a life changing experience for me and my partner, to actually swim with dolphins and stingrays was awesome...however you were charged $5 for use of a locker to stow your valuables, and in the obligatory gift shop, dvd's of your experience and photo cd's were expensive...
Dolphin Cove is a relatively small attraction. There are generally 3 options for your time with the dolphins. 1. The Encounter - which is a standing in the shallows whilst meeting and touching the dolphins.2. The Swim - this is meeting one dolphin in deep water, splashing, kissing and a belly ride.3. Ultimate Swim- Get to swim with two dolphins in deep water. This includes a foot push, dorsal pull and the meeting, touching and kissing. We had the Ultimate Swim. But before this we were kitted out with suitable sized life jackets and had a safety briefing, plus we were given some facts about dolphins.Safety is adhered to at all times and each part of the swim you are informed what is expected from you and what will happen.I personally am a poor swimmer so I was a little apprehensive regarding swimming in deep water, I needn't of worried as the life jacket does a good job of keeping you on top of the water, although you do have to swim a fair bit during the various activities. After the swim you have a chance to interact with a stingray (minus its sting). There are other creatures to see such as a camel, a donkey and ostriches. After this you make your way back to the shop to view the photos and video footage which are available to buy. Note. They are expensive. We bought just two photos costing a total of US $33. Other packages can be US $80 -US $100+ We had a great experience and now have done something we have longed to do.
Where do I start! This experience was brilliant. The staff were friendly, the place was clean and the dolphin encounter was out of this world. We did the ultimate swim and we was not disappointed. There was 6 people in our group and we was all giggling with excitement. The trainer told us all about the two dolphins that we would get a kiss from and he seemed to love his job and the dolphins. The whole experience has us talking about it the whole holiday. we wished that we could have done it twice. The staff put on a show after the swim and you get to be up close with a sting ray.We had jerk chicken and a red strip and enjoyed the sun.We bought the disk of pictures of our swim and are so glad that we did. Yes they could be expensive to some but its something you may never get to fo again so go and buy one.Well defiantly go again when we return to Jamaica.
This was one thing my wife really wanted to do on our honeymoon. this was something we had read about and we ere extremely keen to do. however I am un able to swim and still had to pay a large amount just to stand on the otherside of the site just to watch. I was not allowed to take photos although lucky enough my camera has a huge zoom go got some sneaky photos, this was lucky as the cost of the pictures was alittle on the expensive we thought. the people doing the dolphins were great and polite and keen to get the best out the experience and for this reason I recommend giving this a try, watch out for them trying to continue to sell things after the experience, we were quickly taken down to the shark area and they tried to put a write band on us, by doing this you then have to pay them to stroke a shark, was a little sneaky as this wasn't explained. it all felt a little pushy with getting you to pay to do extra things and they didn't seem to take no for an answer straight away. its this pushy sales techniques that makes me only rate it average
I can't swim but felt totally comfortable in the ocean. They put me at ease. The dolphin show was great and I love the swim. Wish you got to do it more than once. Stingray show was fun. Pictures were too expensive.
