Very informative and interactive. James Bond movie scene was filmed there with the crocs! Cheaper if you buy tickets at the door than buying from your hotel.
So much fun. We were able to see a variety of animals and tons of crocodiles. The children were able to feed birds from their hands, pet bunnies and guinea pigs, and hold a crocodile. Very much worth the effort. As our six year old put it, they're the Jamaican Gator Boys.
The safari is about 20 mins drive from the port of Falmouth. There is a "jungle", surrounded by high fence to keep the birds inside but there is no any interesting birds... Few peacocks and pigeons. The parrots and other colourful birds are in small cages...A lots of crocodiles, few rabbits in extremely small cages and that's all.
If you like crocodiles and snakes this is the tour for you. Please ignore the reviews that talk about poor conditions for animals as I think they might be on a different planet. The tour guide was brilliant and our tour consisted of a total of six of us. We were there for 90 mins, were not rushed and we saw some seriously scary crocs close and up front. The kids got to hold a tiny boa constrictor snake and a tiny croc and loved it. They got to pet the rabbits and other small creatures. This is a good one for people of all ages.
I was very shocked that the animals were in very small cages (especially the rabbits) it was a very hot day and the rabbits were in direct sun with NO shade at all also the tour gide (as nice and informed as she was) felt the need to bang on cages to get the animals to move. I also felt that there were two meany crocs in the same space. Over all left felling sad and sorry for the amimals that would have to spend the rest of their life's there.
This was one of our favorite activities in Jamaica. My husband and I got a tour to ourselves and our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable - I wish we remembered his name. We really enjoyed looking at the many crocodiles and even got to hold a baby crocodile. The other animals were fun to look at as well. We definitely recommend this attraction!
Tour was done in the afternoon; very informed and pleasant tour guide. Animals are in their natural habitat which may seem unkempt but is really left as natural as possible. Whole thing was about an hour long. Interaction with the animals was commendable; variety of animals could be more (they used to have a lion some years ago).Overall, informative and interesting. Loved Pepe (the monkey)
Wanted to visit here for the James Bond, Live and let Die crocodile experience however left very upset. The animals are in poor condition along with their environment, something should be done about this. Would not visit again. I am sure the founder would not be happy, and could someone please rescue that poor monkey?
I am an animal lover, so i really wanted to go here to see some crocs. BUT this is not a pleasant place to visit. They have tried to make the reserve into a little zoo, there are baby rabbits squashed into wire cages, one very lonely Capuchin monkey and all the animals look very unhappy and dirty. Yes there are lots of crocodiles here, and they do have the most space, but it seems like they are only fed when visitors come around to watch them as an attraction. It is also expensive to get in, and it doesn't look like any of the money is going towards the animals welfare. If you are wanting to see Crocodiles go on the Black River Tour. you will not be disappointing! by far one of the most beautiful places i went to, feels like you are in the Deep South. Saw the biggest crocodile I have ever seen in the first 5min, not to mention the huge "RASTATREE!"even just talking to the tour guides is a treat. The animals are so beautiful so it is tempting but, please don't give your money to Swamp Safari, animals should never be kept just as entertainment, especially in such bad conditions. The only thing I can do with my experience, is try and discourage others and hope it makes some kind of difference.
The tour guide was not very good she was in to much of a haste the guide was for 1 hour and 20 minutes 20 mins in gift shop they push you to go , dint see no blue hole to swim in also they did not feed the crocs like its says then you are not allowed to take a pic of yr family member holding the croc . You have to purchase the pic from them from a cd after paying 25 USA dollars you would think that was free a load ofCrap wil never go back
We had gabby as your guide, I highly recommend going to blue hole, beautiful u need to know how to swim, my 23 year old daughter and friend said they had blast , they loved gabby lots of fun. Kamar helped us at blue hole guided us down totally recommend Kamar. There is little climbing involved . Lots swimming we jumped off ricks and swinging from rope it's blast not much tourist local hangout .
Lots of crocodiles. They will let you hold a baby one. The other animals were placed in small cages so it kind of made you feel a bit uneasy about the other animal living conditions. However, overall, it was kind of cool to learn all about crocodiles.
We chose this excursion as it was one of the cheaper ones and was pleasantly surprised. The walk through aviary had many bird species. There are many reptiles and a lot of crocodiles. Our tour groups was small and our guide was good and very knowledgable. it's an interesting tour but make sure you bring some bug spray. We were getting bitten towards the end of the tour. overall it was good,
Visited the Swamp safari village on impulse as I'm a massive animal lover and much to his chagrin dragged fella along too! Located just off the main road about 20 mins from Mo Bay it's a gem of a place, had a great time. Went on a sunday afternoon and we were the only people there, this attraction offers guided tours only and takes an hr or so at a leisurely pace. We had a fantastic guide who was extremely knowledgeable and offered lots of interesting facts whilst allowing me time to enjoy my surroundings. They have a fantastic aviary (birds landing on me), lots of huge menacing looking crocodiles and a menagerie of other animals some of whom were rescue projects, all well cared for and clearly loved. I had the opportunity to hold a baby croc and get up close with bunnies, deer, reptiles, wild boar and a beautiful capuchin monkey as well as watching a crocodile leap into the air for his dinner! Beautiful surroundings saw lots of lovely native plants and flowers too. I took lots of photos, there wasn't anyone charging for these as in some other attractions although this could be due to going on a Sunday. Really recommend for adults who enjoy animal attractions probably my favourite excursion thus far on this amazing island!
As a disclaimer, my husband (a big James Bond fan) picked this attraction. I hate reptiles.Upon arrival, we were the only 2 people there for a tour and the place had a little bit of a creepy feel. after that the tour only got better...Once inside the village we toured an aviary were birds would fly right down and eat food out of your hands. Our guide was very informative and we learned a lot in only an hour. After the aviary we were shown several small animals and small reptiles and snakes. Then it was onto the Crocs!I was amazed (a terrified) by them! The had so many and they can tell them apart from one another. Then you get to hold a baby croc, its small so I didn't mind that. Then you hold a snake. a BIG snake! that I did not enjoy, but I also hate snakes! At the end of the tour they show you where they filmed the James Bond scene, and show you a behind the scenes movie of how they filmed it and the part of the movie its involved in (which was good for me because I had never seen that James Bond film)The only down side to this place is the smell around the wild boars pen is pretty intense so we only spent a moment there.
