This is the unique private owned winery in SA, the only place where you can find meads. They have the plenty of choices: chocolate mead, orange mead, etc and loved every one I tasted. They have a range of ports and wines too. The tasting is free. The atmosphere is very friendly and quiet, I love the owners treat their guests.

A good selection of Ports. The white Fort Fortified Wine is so smooth. A lovely shop, well worth a visit.

We were visiting Barossa valley. I think their selection of wines were great and tasty. I especially enjoy their 2010 Shiraz.

The warm mead was delightful and the service was great. We had a group of 15 and arrived late, and yet the staff were still extremely accommodating.

Loved it here, my fav of all our wine tasting experiences. OMG the Choc and jaffa mean is a must buy and if you love rum and raisin I stress you to get the Buccaneer Rum, amazing on a cold winters night with some dark choclate. Perfect. The winery itself is enchanting with its rustic charms and smells of aging port. They even have a few gift shop stalls inside with some very unique collectables. Highly recommed. I couldn;t resist a bottle of the spicy mead warmed up.

We visited on out first wedding anniversary and were greeted by Karen, tasted some fantastic wines and ports and really enjoyed our visit. Out hosts were so helpful, friendly and informative, we had such a good experience and would highly recommend to anyone. Of the 5 wineries we visited in the area, this one was our favourite! Add it to your list!

Had a short stop over for the wines. Chateau Dorrien has always been on my regular list to visit for wine tasting when I am at Barossa valley.Friendly staff and informative of the history behind the place and also the different styles of wines. Tried a range of wine and really liked the Late harvest Sermillion, the golden color, aroma and taste on the palette as a whole is really good. A highly recommended alternative to other big commercial wine around the region (i.e. Jacobs Creek)

This place is something different and the gentleman who spoke to us about the mead (which is made from honey) was so helpful, informative and happy. That made it a fun visit. He warmed the samples of the different flavoured meads that we sampled. (We were happy with the prices.) There are a number of murals on old wine vats and plenty of history on show here. Put this place on your wine trail as definitely worth a visit.

This place is more than a winery, it's a museum that sells wine. It's a must visit and enjoy both the wine and what else it has to offer the visitor.

Highly recommended, very friendly tasting, some interesting wines (and meads as well) and prices that are lower than the standard of wines would suggest, very much worth a trip

A lovely old building with very strong German heritage, like the rest of the Barossa, however with a nice twist in the production of honey mead, along with their wine. We tried several types including chocolate orange (which we purchased), cinnamon and chocolate. Heavenly drop whether hot or cold, and the gentleman who took us through our tasting was very helpful and pleasant. A definite must when you visit Tanunda.

We went specifically to try the mead. My favourite was their spicy mead which is served warm/hot. Its absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, they do not deliver. I bought as much as my travel allowance back would allow. The place is small but homely and very quaint. Its the perfect setting for their mead. The couple was lovely and really took the time to show case their mead. There was 9 of us and everyone really enjoyed the wine and the atmosphere of the place. Truly special. If you are in the area, definitely a must-do.

Honey Mead was delicious, the staff informative, the displays and the mineral display is great for kids (and adults!). A must visit.

This has been favourite of mine since I was a kid. Murals painted on huge wine barrels tell the history of the Barossa Valley Wine Region, weekend markets are fun, free wine & mead tasting, and love the meads (both the spicy hot ones & the cool choccie flavours). Free sightseeing, extremely inexpensive market, great value meads. Something here for everyone!

Chateau Dorrien was our last stop ater 2 days of wine tasting in the Barrossa Valley. What a stunning aray of wines, meads and fortified wines. What started as 'let's just try a couple' to us tasting the whole range. Then we couldn't leave without buying a dozen mixed bottles. We will now serve these unusual and delicious ports and meads to our guests at HideAway Haven in our new Bush Land Executive Suite. From White Fort and Chocolatino Port to Spicy, Scarlet and Quandong Mead we will surprise them. Perfect with chocolate.We loved chatting with Dave and Monica and their knowledge and experience is awesome. We are still ordering their fortifieds and having them shipped to WA.Thanks guys...from the girls :-)
