Mortimers hosted our wedding reception. Owners were so helpful during the preparations and on the day. We had photos in their magnificent vineyard - they even supplied complimentary drinks for the bridal party! Venue was superb and very kid friendly - a cubby house, monkey bars, animals to look at and lots of space for them to run around. Wines were fabulous and I thinks few guests visited the cellar door before they left. When their barrel hall is finished they will be able to host much bigger events and I think you'll need to book in early to get a spot at this magnificent venue! Thanks Jules and Pete for making our day so special!
Our visit to Mortimer's Wines turned out to be the highlight of our time in Orange. We left the cellar door feeling as though we had just spent an hour or so chatting with long lost friends such was the welcome afford us by Peter & Julie Mortimer & their charming assistant Kristen. Peter & Kristen took us through his impressive range of wines, all of which were superb but it was his Chardonnay that we liked most. We had such a pleasant experience we couldn't help but wonder why we felt so happy & uplifted. The answer was simple. So often cellar doors are opulent, sterile buildings with gardens & surrounds manicured to perfection and staffed by "experts" who sing the praises of their product. There are no such pretensions at Mortimer's. Tastings are taken in a one hundred year old one room school house that exudes both charm & character. The Mortimers don't put on any airs & graces. They are genuinely decent friendly folk who have a quality product to sell & we thoroughly recommend a visit to their winery.Trish & Bill
I attended a function at Mortimers Wines this year. It was a great experience. Peter and Julie Mortimer went our of their way to make everyone comfortable and to help in every way. We went and tasted some of their wines, too, and they are really good. If you are in Orange, NSW - or anywhere near it - you don't want to miss Mortimers Wines.
Thanks for a great start to our wine tour! Quality wines, beautiful cheeses and a great country atmosphere... Great experience with the prime7 news crew!
Had such a great experience at Mortimers Wines. Really friendly staff who went out of there way to help us out, a great atmosphere and a gorgeous setting. One of the best wine tasting experiences I have had, cannot wait to go back for more. Definitely try the sparkling!!
"Music in the Vineyards" fundraising day for MS Research. Very friendly hosts Pete and Julie Mortimer donated their time & venue. Fab day so much fun we laughed all day, we felt very welcome nothing was to much trouble. Would defiantly visit there again any time. It was also so close to town which is always handy.
I spent a wonderful day here in Autumn this year. Peter and Julie were such welcoming and friendly hosts and their staff knew their wines and helped me sample many. The set-up is perfect for a family visit or more sophisticated wine-tasting. It's a get- away from the city, or a place to bring overseas visitors- you have Australian bush all around you but you are in a pleasant, green and flowering garden. Parking and directions to the vineyards are easy, but if, like me you end up staying all day listening to music, the sounds of the bush, and tasting wines in the gorgeous old school house, you will need a designated driver. Big recommend.
Wonderful experience earlier this year at Mortimers "Music in the Vineyards" fundraising day for MS Research. Gorgeous hosts Pete and Julie Mortimer donated their venue, kitchen and wine tastings. We sat in in the sun feasting on BBQ koftas and pulled lamb rolls, homemade date puddings and wines from the cute old schoolhouse cellar door. Entertainment flowed from jazz quartet and soul singer, ending in dancing to the local bush band. My favourite wine of the day was the Black Shiraz, had to take a couple home as well as topping up on our favourite Chardonnay. Thanks Pete and Julie for a great day! Hope to visit you again for wine week in October this year!
Wonderful hosts Pete and Julie. Their enthusiastic approach to their wines and anyone who walks in their cellar door is a refreshing delight. Can't get enough of it!!
Both times I have visited Mortimers the service was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxing. Kristen attended to all our needs with her friendly service and knowledge of the wines. I love the sparkling wine so much that I won't be drinking another. Their prices are also reasonable for the quality that they provide. I will definitely be going again.
Very friendly and knowledgable staff, beautiful atmosphere and views, and lovely fireplace for the winter months.
Wine tasting in Orange proved to be a treat when we came across Mortimers. Schoolhouse is a delight. Cheese platters with home made soup shots and tastings by the fire with the temptation of fresh coffee to come.A great variety of wines, including a sparkling that was so me! Jules is the premium red and definitely worth a try. Pleasing to know that ALL the wines are for tasting and tastings are free.A very rowdy group came in quite late which made us move on a little earlier that we would have wanted to but will definitely return when next in Orange.
Thank you for your review. Our Responsible Service of Alcohol is a very important part of our business. You are the only person we have had to enforce it on in 13 years! The rest of your party were very apologetic to the tour guide on their departure.
The combination of great wines, an excellent ambience and the personal touch of Peter provided an exceptional experience. I highly recommend a visit and be prepared to spend some time to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the company. The wines are worth it as well!!!
Yes it's true! Can't get enough of Mortimers Winery.. What a place to spend an afternoon relaxing at the cellar door. Make sure you try 'Jules' it's lovely!
