The view is vast and amazing if you have never seen a vast amount of brush, scrub and open land and in the distance you can just make out brokenhill
So if you are in the area, it is definately worth a visit. The view is amazing for miles around, I would Imagine at sunrise and sunset that it would be spectacular. Great photo opps at the top.
Worth stopping and taking in the view. You can see all the way to the Flinders ranges from here, makes you want to keep going further inland.
Worth a drive just up the road from historic Silverton to this incredible sight where the sky meet the land. You can almost see the curvature of the earth.
This is a very interesting lookout over the Mundi Mundi Plains. The a Plains below the lookout are so flat and stretch many kilometres into the distance that you can see the curvature of the earth. This is a must to see if you are in the Broken Hill area.
Only a few extra kilometers from silverton you get to view the beautiful scenery what mundi mundi lookout has to offer. It is one of the best views I have ever seen
Just a quick 30 min trip out past Silverton and your on the edge of the Mundi Mundi plains. Just makes you realise how small we really all are.
We were told about Silverton by the hotel owner in Mildura and we drove to Mundi Mundi the first evening that we got to Broken Hill. We were just blown away by the natural beauty and landscape of this place. We did drive up to Umberumberka but it was closed, still a good drive. We even drove for a few minutes from Umberumberka onto the dirt road, it was red sand and made our faces look red in the pictures too (this was 20mins before sunset). Sunset was just stunning. One advice I would give is, make sure you drive back to your hotel in Broken Hill (unless you are staying in Silverton) just after the sunset (basically when there is still a bit of light). We stopped for drinks at the Silverton hotel and drive back in the dark was a little stressful because of the huge amount of kangaroos along the road. Also there was no network on the way back to Broken Hill from Silverton (not even Telstra works there). All in all a great scenic lookout point and a must visit.
While we were there we saw wild horses, amazing views, I can understand why so many artists are drawn to this area.
If you're in or near Broken Hill don't miss this view, also its the place where Mad Max 2 road scenes were filmed
Fabulous view of our amazing outback. Nothing and everything to see. I read that this is where the first Mad Max movie was made. There is an interesting memorial on the lookout. Hoping there isn't a body under the pile of rocks!
Excellent views of the flats below. You get to see how vast and big the landscapes are. Best time to go is definitely sunset. Make sure you use the toilet at Silverton before going. There is no toilets at the lookout.
Great view of the sunset especially with a little scattered cloud. You're up high looking out into the desert and can make out the curvature of the earth !!
You can see the flat but certainly not featureless views of the true rugged Australia. And if you look out to the horizon, you can see South Australia. A peaceful awe-inspiring part of Australia. Being there for a sunset is a must
When you go to Silverton go a little further and you come to the Mundi Mundi plains lookout which gives a great view over the landscape and is a photographers delight. The plains go on forever and you can see the earths curvature. We did not go at sunset but that must be even more spectacular. If it has been raining, just be careful of the water crossings between Broken Hill and Silverton
