We have been to Crane Wines several times over the past few years, it's our go to place when we need a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of work and life in the city. Judy and Bernie are always on hand to extend to you a great country welcome. The wines are produced with loving care and we have been known to pay bills with bottles of reserve Shiraz when it is available. Not a lot of wineries can produce both white and red to such a standard and the car boot rattles all the way back to Brisbane with our spoils.Make sure you time your arrival around lunchtime or early afternoon and relax under the shade with one of Judy's excellent platters, just don't eat anything until you get there or you won't finish it.If you are looking for a place to relax where all you can hear is birdsong and there is nothing to do but unwind and take in the magnificent views with a glass of your favourite drop, then stay for a couple of nights. The accommodation includes a small lounge, dining and basic kitchenette, a wonderfully generous bathroom and two large queen bedrooms beautifully furnished and tastefully decorated in traditional antique style. A continental breakfast is supplied so you can rise when you wish and chose from a wide selection of cereals and preserves. If you have particular preferences for milk and bread this can be provided by prior arrangement. The accommodation is situated right next to the main house so there is someone on hand if you have any problems, but it is extremely private.I would not hesitate at all to recommend the wine, food and accommodation on offer at Crane's, just make sure you get your booking in before I do.
This is a small winery which does free tasting and offers wine, liquors, and some other condiments etc. the lady gave us great advice... Like all wineries..it comes back to individual tastes. If you are looking for a place to visit in Kingaroy ... Well worth it.
I didn't come up to this part of Queensland expecting to find wineries but was pleasantly surprised by this. They have a very respectable range of whites and reds and do a cheese platter if you would like to have a sit down meal and you can also buy wine by the glass to have with it. Well worth visiting if you are passing by!
We have visited Crane Wines often, but this time we stayed in the B&B. We have friends with us from Scotland and it was ideal. Judy has furnished and decorated with the most beautiful antique furniture, exquisite linen on the beds, which were very comfortable, well appointed kitchen, fabulous shower and bathroom with lovely toiletries. Fully screened so all the windows can be kept open. To wake up and look through the wide french doors over the valley. Highly recommend. Both Judy and Bernie are wonderful hosts.
I have had the pleasure of staying at the B+B at Crane Wines 3 wonderful times.Every two years, I travel up to Kingaroy to watch an event that is held at the local airport (UAV out back Challenge). Every time that I stayed at the two bedroom B+B, both the amazing hosts, Bernie and Judy, have made the stay so welcoming. Now with the new alfresco style covered deck at the wine tasting area (withing crawling distance of the rooms) made my impromptu bbq function such a success (around 30+ people). Making my guests very jealous once they realised I had been staying there all week!Lets not forget the wine! I dont drink that much but somehow I manage to buy liters of their stock. When I'm home having a sip with friends, I dont think how nice this wine is anymore, just the great memories of the short but lovely stay at Crane Wines.
What an amazing place to have a few romantic nights with the husband! The room was great - so pretty! It was fantastic that we were the only people there - they book the whole place out if you are traveling as a single couple. The hosts were so hospitable - letting my sister and bridal party to get ready after a last minute change! The wine was delicious, as was the breakfast (there is a microwave that we cooked bacon in [we brought], an egg maker, fresh fruit and yoghurt is included). As for the view - WOW! Thank you so much!
This has to be one of the best small wineries and cafe in the South Burnett. Excellent local wines, great platters, amazing skin care products, oils and port. They also have a beautiful boutique B&B in a location that is superb with rural views and peace and quiet. Well worth a visit if you are near Kingaroy.
A beautiful setting and very good wines. A little far out of town but that is a personal choice and not to reflect on this wonderful place. You need a driver. Don't drink and drive. Their wine is very more-ish.
A very pleasant way to spend an afternoon, sitting in the lovely garden, on top of a hill, looking out over the valley, with the best cheese platter and a nice red, with Dylan, lying beside you.Judy and Bernie and Karen are wonderful hosts. We had a look at the B&B, how beautiful, with intentions of staying!!!! Judy also makes the most luscious body creams, which I have been using for a few years now.
What a super place to unwind and be pampered. Nicely decorated and well equipped Crane B and B hosts gave us plenty of delicious breakfast provisions and we took advantage also of the home made soup and gourmet platter of local produce over our two night stay, A complementary bottle of wine shared on the veranda overlooking the view was a highlight. Along with delightful hosts we can highly recommend this B and B.Margaret S
great view's of the countryside.homemade wine liquors.some local produce for sale.enjoyable experience.
Great retreat for one or two couples sharing kitchen and bathroom. All very neat and tidy and well provisioned. Breakfast supplies were great - good choice of cereals, lovely freshly-squeezed mandarin juice, locally-grown mandarins, other fresh fruit, yoghurt, toast. All delicious! Lots of lovely hot water in the shower. Judy and Bernie are just lovely and so helpful. And Judy's a terrific cook! You need to try the Red Wine Jelly she sells at the Cellar Door (as well as all the other good things she makes). They do the BEST platters (local produce). Try one for lunch - you won't need any dinner! And the wine's good too. You can visit the Cellar Door and try all that's on offer. But staying was a great experience too.
We found this winery by accident as we had been to Taste @Burnett and the young woman there advised us to visit. Ostensibly we went for lunch which was an excellent platter of Mediterranean Mizes, but the wine was woeful. Also we had to ask to taste the varieties, in South Australia they are lined up on the counter at the ready!
Regarded as the premier winery in the South Burnett region of Queensland, it is located at 162 Hayden's Road Kingaroy - travel north along the Bunya Highway from Kingaroy and follow the signs. Mine hosts, Bernie & Judy Cooper, offer a wide range of red and white wines for all palates including the Verdelho (produced from local grapes) and their award winning Late Harvest Frontignac (desert wine) blends. Whilst taking in the sweeping views of the valley, visitors can feast on a gourmet platter ($28.00) or sample the popular range of home made vegetable base products. B&B accommodation for up to 2 couples is available in the beautiful old homestead close by. The vineyard is open 7 days a week 10am-4pm and it now offers the new Garden Room (outdoors) which caters for special occasions, small business conference and coach tours. The winery also participates in the annual Kingaroy Wine & Food in the Park Festival every 2nd Saturday in March. This winery is a must see for all travellers & wine buffs.Contact Details: Ph 07 41627647 Email: info@cranewines.com.au Web: www.cranewines.com.au
I just visited Crane wines for the third time. It has a great location - fantastic views of the region high up on the Booie Range, not far from Kingaroy. The hosts, Bernard and Judy are very friendly and welcoming. Bernard is the winemaker so has an intimate knowledge of what goes into all the wines, is happy to answer all questions and loves to chat. They have quite a wide range of wines at reasonable prices - Sparklings, whites, reds and port. Their reserve shiraz is a must try. They also sell local produce. They've just set up a nice covered verandah which would be perfect for a function and have an on site B & B if you wish to stay.I'll be back for another visit!
