I took the 'Mountain Vistas' full day trip with Chelbec tours whilst staying in Wodonga, close to the NSW border, with its 'twin' town of Albury on the other side of the Murray River which forms the state border. Our driver/guide, Tom, is the owner of the business; I was impressed that he took just three of us in a 21 seater bus and that he offered a door-to-door service. For a tour that lasted from 9.45am to nearly 6pm it was incredible value for money, probably the best I've had anywhere in the world. The itinerary was well-planned with adequate and well-spaced food stops, numerous photo stop opportunities and time allowed to look around some of the small yet interesting townships along the way. Historic Beechworth was of particular interest. There was even a visit to a deer and emu farm and a drive up an unmade road to an awesome lookout over the flood plains of the Ovens and King Rivers with Mt. Buffalo in the distance. Tom kept up an informative commentary during the day [he had a microphone] much of which wouldn't be found in any guidebook. Even when the official tour was over, back in both Wodonga and Albury, he still did a quick drive around both towns pointing out anything of interest.This tour business deserves to flourish and I wish them well for the future.
