Top gallery space, fine construction sometimes used for concerts.Good craft shop and catering.Have been twice now. On a fine day the vineyard views down the valley are spectacular.
The gallery itself is made of rammed earth and it sits high on a hill, glowing golden in the sunlight. It is surrounded by neat vineyards flowing up and down over adjacent hills. Inside the art is contemporary, it varies by the season but the windows, framing the glorious scenery up Long Gully, lead the eyes to the real art and beauty of this place - the countryside and its hills, trees, valleys and sky. We were there for what seems to be now the annual visit of the flawless Australian Chamber Orchestra and it was wonderful. Add to that tastings of the fine Tarrawarra wines and local cheeses and you have bliss.
It was New Year's eve and we were hitting many wineries in the area, trying to find an Australian Pinot Noir that would rival those of the ones back home in the Willamette Valley, Oregon. So far no luck and TarraWarra was our last stop before heading home. We tasted their wines and got talking about a pinot noir that we have yet to like from Australia. He brought out a bottle and poured us a sample and we were blown away! Frankly, I forgot the year but it had a high price tag, that I remember! So we found ONE pinot noir from Australia worthy of the ones from back home. The view of the estate was breathtaking and there was an expansive deck where visitors can sit under canopies of the airy Sunburst trees. It was just lovely and with a few glasses of wines and a charcuterie box, we really didn't feel like leaving. It was just so nice to sit and drink there that we completely forgot to visit the museum. Ah well, another visit for sure!
Great display of art . A wonderful gift to the Australian community from the Beeson family showcases great art in a tranquil setting. Always worth a visit and a coffee in the cafe.
What a wonderful place to spend some time. A world class gallery in an amazing setting, very good restaurant, exhibitions constantly change and are excellent . Highly recommend that if you are in the Yarra Valley, do yourself a favour and visit the gallery, you will not regret it.
Saw the Whiteley Exhibition there. The last time I saw this artwork was in the National Gallery, so I was thrilled & amazed to have the opportunity to see it out in the yarra valley. A calm, beautifully designed gallery.
