This place is an oasis of peace and forest paths 30 minutes away from Punta del Este. It is a protected (once private) estate with varieties of trees from all over the world and magnificent views from the hill top. Entrance is free. You can take a picnic (but leave trash!). It's a good alternative on a sunny day if the wind is too strong for the beach.

Lussich was a visioner.......he brought all kind of trees from all around the world and located them in a place nobody believed they would survive, but they did, and they are really tall!!!! so so soooo many that when you are walking along this laaaarge garden you may believe you are in other part of the world and not in Punta Ballena. Fantastic place to breath pure aire, and enjoy the quiet atmosphere.

I enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the beautiful garden, well worth a visit. There is also a museum which is extremely informative.

Wonderful afternoon out even though it rained. There is a gentle slope as the wide gravel path curves upward. Interesting museum inside as well including a selection and history of tiles that were imported to Uruguay. We should have walked further but weren't sure about the map of the paths, but do continue past the tall viewing tower and then the pathway curves back towards the museum. A friend climbed the tower, a bit daunting with just a ladder to the ascent. It was a relaxing stroll, pleasant way to spend the afternoon with friends or family. Children would have a marvelous time on the path and exploring in the woods along the way.

Take a pair of walking shoes and set aside time to enjoy a relaxing stroll through a mature woodland, made up of an interesting collection of trees from around the world. The museum is worth visiting, but the best part is in the open air with shaded paths leading to openings with wonderful views of the coastline. It makes a refreshing contrast to the hustle and bustle of Punta del Este.

This incredible collection of trees and plants over a hundred years old includes exotic species as well as autochthonous which is in a short distance of Punta del Este and open to the public.

Can't speak to what the visit would be like in the summer, I've heard the grounds are beautiful, but in the winter there's not much to see. Nice that they keep it open since most places close but the building exhibits themselves are beyond scarce and there was no one there to assist you. We could find the trail maps that would explain the species of plants and ended up leaving. Would say it's not worth the trip to see in the winter!
