We came from Guamote in a private car. The views during the ride were tremendous. When we arrived at the little village near the lakes, we parked near a little place at the right side of the road were you can eat trout, and only trout for just a few dollars. The wellcoming was very warm. Ask someone there to bring you to the 'mirador' on top of the steep hill nearby. In our case the grandmother, yes you read well, the grandmother lead us the way, accompanied by her granddaughter of nine. Be sure, we had troubles following her. From the top you donn't only have a look on the two major lakes, a third and a fourth one come in view, even a waterfall in the distance. Donn't forget to bring some warm clothes, because the wind up there can be cold.Little by little we were told the story of the grandchild : Life is very hard up there. A couple of months ago her parents left for Cuenca with two of here sisters to try to make a new life, leaving her and her brother with her 17 year old sister and her grandmother to take care of the little farm. And her story is not the only one, people there are leaving in search of new ways of lifestyle, homes become deserted.Your visit can mean a lot to this community, so go over there, and not only for the splendid view and the magnificent possibilities for hiking. Your visit can make a difference.

The lakes are located at the beginning of the park , are easily walkable but we did not find any spectacular view points . They are lakes , in a flat surrounding without any specific characteristics . We found the lakes in the Cajas National Park more interesting . Maybe it was the guide ???

Quite beautiful place to visit. All surrounded by Nature you'll enjoy the view, the short walk to the lakes.You'll need to wear some warm clothes, and if you have it, a pair of rubber boots to cross the thin layers of mood. This attraction it's really cheap. If you'd like you could take some chips or camp food, or you can stay there and then move to Riobamba to enjoy the traditional dish called "hornado".

This is for everyone who enjoys nature in its pure sense. Ozogoche is far apart only for selected people who respect nature and the indigenous communities. Be prepared for the cold and take a tent with you. At night you are so close to the sky that you can recognize the satelites going around the earth. This is part of the Sangay National Park so please, take the trash you produce with you. From Riobamba you can take a private car south of the panamerican. At Palmira before Alausí you have the entrance to the left. 36Km. after that you get to the lakes. For adventure people with time the best day to travel thee is on thursday visiting the market of Guamote first. you have to be there around 9 to visit and then take a pick up with other people to Ozogoche. Die Ozogoche-Seen befinden sich unmittelbar vor dem Pass der Provinzstraße 46 von Riobamba nach Macas, bevor sie von 3600 m ü.M. steil hinab auf knapp 1000 m ü.M. am Rio Upano fällt. Kleine Beherbergungen und Restaurants bieten einen netten Aufenthalt, sobal das Wetter schön ist, was seltener zutrifft. Die Umgebung nördlich der Seen ist von extensiv genutztem, etwas eintönigem Weide- und Ackerland geprägt, während östlich die grandiose Abfahrt durch die Wälder des Sanguay NP folgt. Die Seen selber sind ihrer Höhenlage entsprechend eiszeitlichen Ursprungs und bieten einen etwas verzwickten galzialen Formenschatz.

Las lagunas de Ozogoche estan a unos 40 minutos (35 Kms) de la via principal que conecta Riobamba con Alausi, casi al terminar el sector de Palmira. El paisaje hasta llegar es un manto de sembrios de hortalizas, papas, trigo y mas. Solamente hay que recorrer 12 Km en camino de segundo orden por el paramo andino y se llega a las 2 lagunas principales. Hay como hacer un recorrido a pie y luego comer trucha recien pescada con un caldo de gallina criolla en una de las casitas del lugar. Es muy bonito disfrutar un dia de ese ambiente andino . Eso si, hay que protegerse bien del frio y de la llovizna del paramo.

Si usted es del tipo aventurero (un poco "espartano"), que se aleja del ruido y el estrés de la ciudad, entonces este sitio le va a encantar. El lugar es muy tranquilo, con algunos moradores indígenas de la zona. Para el acceso al parque se recomienda un 4x4, pero he visto autos pequeños que logran llegar con algún grado de dificultad (si no ha llovido mucho). A la entrada de la laguna hay un pequeño restaurante, pero debe pedir la comida, salir a excursionar y regresar para comer (es más un comedor comunitario con productos de la zona preparado por lo residentes indígenas del lugar). Si va por salida, le recomiendo llegar temprano y caminar hasta las lagunas que se observan desde la carretera (en realidad es un complejo natural de más de 30 lagunas repartidas por todo el parque), llevar botas de caucho (pues pisará piso de páramo y la humedad que conlleva) e impermeable, pues llueve todo el tiempo.Si va de acampada lleve todos los implementos necesarios, acá no encontrará comodidades, y si tiene un protector plástico extra para su tienda de campaña, llévelo. Así mismo, no olvide ropa abrigada (mejor si son las tres capas de ropa para frío), botas de caucho e impermeable. Si acampa tendra la oportunidad de visitar las otras lagunas, pero pregunte al guía del parque si es prudente y si tiene el equipo necesario para no perderse. Recuerde que es un parque natural grande.

Visitar las Lagunas de Ozogoche es una experiencia inolvidable, se puede ver al amanecer como se refleja el cielo en el agua de las lagunas y parace que no tuvieran ni principio ni final, es como un espejo gigante lleno de secretos y misterios, la neblina cae repentinamente en el momento más inesperado, si le gusta la pesca los habitantes de esa zona que se dedican al pastoreo de ovejas le acompañarán y le dirán en donde es buena la pesca de truchas, a ellos les fascina dejar su trabajo diario para acompañar a cualquier turista o aventurero, tenga cuidado con los perros blancos.

Tuve la oportunidad de visitar estas dos lagunas !!! es un complejo natural de dos enormes lagunas, no se debe de pensar dos veces para visitarlo !!

a media hora de Colta al sur via Alausi , desde la Panamericana 27 km ; 20 km esta totalmente asafaltados , a mas de las lagunas un paisaje muy hermoso siembras de trigo parece los cuadros de Van Gog reflejada con el sol, 7 km en camino secundario estado regular puede ingresar un auto bajo , puede hacer camping, dejas el auto en el parqueadero y recorres 10 minutos a pie y llegas al paraiso de las lagunas

Es una pena que no se puedan visitar todas las lagunas.

Ozogoche - este sitio cobro fama pues las aves migratorias conocidas como: "cuvivies" llegan entre agosto y septiembre en su recorrido migratorio desde Norteamerica y en su desesperacion de saciar la sed por el tremendo vuelo....chocan contra el agua y por la temperatura del agua mueren masivamente- Ozogoche...es un sistema lacruste ubicado a 30 km. de la carretera Panamericana que va entre Palmira y Alausi, la mitad del recorrido esta perfectamente asfaltado y luego llegar hasta las lagunas junto con la desesperacion de no conocer el sitio se hace interminable el recorrido...en el lugar cobran la entrada a turistas nacionales $2.00 pero no te advierten que NO puedes llegar con tu propio vehiculo hasta las orillas de Ozogoche y casi nos quedamos entrampados en la zona pantanosa (50 cm de lodo negro) ya que el cartel que lo advertia estaba detras de una curva como a 5 metros del primer lugar donde solo salimos con el vehiculo 4 x 4 y ademas nuestros fuertes rezos a la Divinidad...dejamos en ese sitio el carro para alcanzar nuestro objetivo que luego de 25 minutos de caminata, escogiendo donde pisar ya que todo el terreno era pantanoso, tuvimos nuestra recompensa al llegar a este sitio magico, nos maravillamos con el vaiven de las olas en la laguna y el graznido sorprendente de unas cuantas gaviotas a esta altura los 3.800 msnm...Nachdem wir auf dem Chimborazo waren sind wir hinterher zu den Lagunen von Ozogoche gefahren (bekannt weil zwischen August und September die Voegel mit Namen Cuvivies in diesen Lagunen Selbstmord begehen), die Lagunen liegen auf 3.800 Meter Hoehe....sie sind wunderschoen und das Wasser ist eisig kalt....das Auto mussten wir gute 25 minuten vor den Lagunen lassen (waeren sogar beinahe Stecken geblieben, dank der 4 x 4 des Autos kamen wir da raus), aber es hat sich gelohnt...The Ozogoche lakes, what a wonderful place....in this lake on the months of August and September the birds called "cuvivies" come from Northamerica and crush into these lakes and die....they commit suicide...we had to leave the car about 25 minutes before the lakes.....it was very muddy and we almost got stucked in the mud....so we walked and the view was so great we forgot about the scare we felt before...
