This is an upper class home from the 19th century in Stykkisholmur. This town was a critical trading link between Iceland and Europe due to the port or natural harbor. Stick built home where all timber imported. The house now museum is open and available for minute inspection of fabulous gadgets of yesteryear. Typewriter rotary phone tools handmade cooking implements fully equipped century appropriate items. Worth a visit.

This museum gives a very interesting take on the Icelandic 19th century history and is a good reminder that not only the Danish shaped the culture in Iceland, even though Iceland was under Danish rule for over 600 years.

A great little museum, giving you a good idea of the history of Stykkisholmur, highly recommended, interesting place and a nice house to visit.

Well organized and preserved artifacts and interpretation material. Very much worth a visit. The young lady at the gift store & reception was helpful when considering items to purchase.

It is a presentation of a well-to-do family which lived in the house at one time. The booklet provided good information.

Not sure if this attraction opens in the winter, but we still enjoyed the exterior and looking through the windows. I wouldn't make a special trip but would enjoy popping in if I were in the area.
